I had the opportunity to publish a piece of writing that was difficult and rewarding to put down on paper. If you have similar feelings, I will gladly discuss. Be good to yourself. @medpagetoday Opinion | Putting Out the Fire With Gasoline medpagetoday.com/opinion/second…

Outrageous. I finished a 26 hour reg shift this morning. I and everyone on my rota have to do this once a week, as a direct result of not having enough staff, chronically and by design. It is not fair on doctors and it is not safe for patients. You get what you pay for.

Roommate in hospital: “This is the third time they asked me if I want to sign a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order. I wish they would stop. I don’t want a DNR.” Repeated requests concerning a DNR order are ableist, coercive and harassment. No means no.

If there’s one thing I wish everybody knew about US healthcare, it would be the existence of pharmacy benefit managers. They are just as responsible for soaring drug prices as pharma, yet most people are oblivious to their actions. Truly incredible middlemanning effort by PBMs.

Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.

@PrashanthPalMD Totally. I watched that and it made my stomach turn. I can’t imagine how they can go back to playing when their friend just suffered a cardiac arrest

We need more storms in medicine besides thyroid and VT. COPD exacerbation—> Bronchospasm storm Gout flare—> uric acid storm Would make daily practice much more dramatic.

If I do a procedure during Epic downtime, do I just go around telling people how verbal consent was obtained and immediately prior to the procedure a time out was called? I can’t type it. I don’t know what to do. Please send help.

"Am I dying?" Patient asked me directly to my face. I'm usually uncomfortable with saying "Yes" or "No", and respond like "Your time is getting shorter..." But the other day, patient asked me this x3. I was not clear enough. 1/
