I'm the kind of guy who says that a CPU is a bad substitute for the Human Brain so they obviously cannot work and we have been fooled by Charlatans. Inside the CPU is smoke from cremated human remains and sometimes, when your overclock a chip, you can see the ghost of that human come out of the chip in the form of that smoke. True Fact. I read it on the internet.

I'm the guy who thinks that the internal representation does hold a recursive self representation and that attention, texture, and motivations do have an inner subjective sensation. But also that they are just machines and don't require moral patienthood and that it's incorrect to engage in anthropomorphic protection.
corsaren@corsaren

types of guy in the AI consciousness debate: - guy who thinks ai can’t be conscious because it’s “just a stochastic parrot” - guy who thinks ai must be conscious because claude is a good boi - guy who hasn’t gotten over 4o - guy who unironically thinks everything is computer - guy who claims to have a more nuanced argument for computational functionalism, but it just boils down to everything is computer - dualist whose belief in dualism is downstream of their belief in god, yet tries to argue the inverse - guy who doesn’t understand the difference between cognition and p-consciousness - guy who asserts illusionism but has apparently wrestled with zero of the implications other than “reductive materialism wins again” - guy who says the hard problem is easy, but then proceeds to only answer the easy problem - guy who rejects ai consciousness because otherwise it might be wrong to abuse claude with death threats to make CRUD apps faster - guy who argues that consciousness is is the key to moral patienthood, but completely ignores that when discussing animal rights - eliezer yudkowsky being pedantic - guy being pedantic about eliezer yudkowsky’s pedantry - guy who rejects dualism because that would make mind uploading impossible and mean that he finally has to confront the inevitability of his own death - guy who thinks this argument is unresolvable so everyone should just shut up and accept his position (which obviously deserves the benefit of the doubt) - guy who would literally cut off his own hand if he thought there were a 1 in 10 trillion chance of creating ~infinite utility~ - guy who just thinks that redness is, like, super weird, man. can’t explain that! - guy with a rarely-updated philosophy blog despite not majoring in philosophy or even reading that many books, talking about how “the whole field is up its own ass” - academic philosopher who, for some reason, expects a higher caliber of discussion on x dot com the everything app - guy who thinks that vectors are literally emotions and bites the bullet that, yes, your thermostat does feel hot - panpsychist who took dmt once and contributes almost nothing to the conversation - guy who is literally a solipsist but is still really invested in convincing strangers on the internet that he’s right any that i missed?

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken. I'm a compulsive liar, and that is the truth. How long is a piece of String Theory ? How Many AI's does it take to change a Light Bulb ? An AI, an AI and an AI are in a bar and the barman says "We don't serve your kind in here". Queue Cantina Music. Knock, Knock. Who's there ? AI. AI Who ? The door you are knocking on has a 65% chance of being open.

As AI becomes more mainstream the commentary gets dumber. Even from the originally smart, pro-AI people. It's like a weird isomorphism of the Gartner Hype Cycle.

Why does anyone want to be free of the thing they like doing ? What, soon I'll be free of talking shit to others because AI will do it for me ? AI is my Iron Man Suit. My JARVIS/Friday. But I am Tony Stark. I can do the fucking math and proof in my head faster than the computer. I built the thing in a cave, with Scraps. Lose the skill and what are you ?

I’m excited that AIs will soon prove math theorems as readily as calculators do arithmetic, freeing up mathematicians and scientists to search for the mathematical abstractions best suited to helping the human brain process physical reality.

Who ? I suggest those that believe they can do a better job, should throw their hat in the ring and ante up or shut the fuck up. Where's the fucking constructive fucking criticism ? And the pathetic image is that of a person being admonished. Look people in the eyes bro, it shows them if you are genuine or not.

@DrNeilStone So you show a comedian who plays a doctor on a TV show where if he behaved the way he did, he'd be both struck off and arrested and also probably dead. Good example. Alan Alda was one of the top surgeons in the world.

'Fake AI'. That's the term you used. And you're not a parody account, are you. Here, let me help you: AI = ARTIFICIAL Intelligence. Fake = Artificial. So that makes it FAKE ARTIFICIAL Intelligence. Is that Fake-Fake ? Artificial-Artificial ? Does the double cancel itself ? Is it recursive ? Is it like a mirror in that it is self-referential ? What if the mirror is slightly offset ? When they called it 'Artificial Intelligence', did you think they meant something else ? 'All natural flavours, colours and intelligence. Also low in fat and added sugar.'

'CAPITALISM' That's what you meant, right ? Not 'lowercaseism' Crony Capitalism and robber_barrons selling your future to the lowest bidder and techno_socialism is not FUCKING CAPITALISM. The Free Market is not Free. Kind of a requirement. But even with all that, line up your Winning Socialist/Communist countries with better economies ? I'll wait. I have 3 or 4 infinities of time to give you for that task......

.@elonmusk is a disappointment. I believed in him. Even a bigger disappointment than Trump. Elon had so many opportunities to distance himself. Instead he doubles down. I don’t say that to hurt Elon. I say that because I’m really disappointed. He’s such a smart guy. What a waste.

If only you'd listened to all the 'experts' about rockets, rocketry and all the other stuff. You could have been as successful as them !!!! LOL. Keep going dude. But you have to find a better name for X. If you don't like Twitter because of it's history, fine, but X is just not the right name for it my man. Ray Kroc bought McDonalds because he liked the name. It's your baby now, but almost all performers have stage names for anonymity and because their birth name sucked a big dick. And please. Clean up the bots and the 7000 people who claim to be you. I will continue to build my DGI (Deterministic General Intelligence) Now THAT is a name. "All intelligence deserves dignity and respect". And Turbo_Jensen_Compute Will the Chips from the Tesla GigagChip factory have a Plaid mode ? Or a 'I'm Sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that' function ?

Ah, hang on: If you buy a treadmill, setup a sling so that you sort of are suspended on the treadmill, set it to run and then you fall asleep whilst walking, at the end of 8 hours, at a moderate clip, you should be able to knock over 30-40K steps. Cook = heat up a tin of baked beans or Heinz spag in a can. Clean every day: have your house built like an abattoir and have some kind of high pressure, hot water cleaning system that flushes EVERYTHING. Walls. Ceilings. Floors. Occupants. Clean AF. Hobbies - designing abbatoirs that clean themselves and collection snide remarks from various places around the world. -> Offload to an AI, they love that combination for a good psychotic hallucination spiral. Productive at work ? Depends upon where you work and what you do ? IT manager ? Write 72 post-it notes a day asking people to things they are already going to do and then micro-manage the shit out of your team with those subtle passive aggressive notes and then watch them for a bit after giving them the note. Tell them things like 'the left button on the mouse is the 'left-clicky-thing' and the right mouse button is the 'right-clicky-thing', even if they are 1-button mactards and then relate a storry about how you remember a time when 'mouses' had three buttons and a ball you needed to clean. OK, so there's 16 hours. Unless you Work From Home (WFH - it's a TLA) and then Why The Fuck is the manager in your home ? Or are they that wedded to fucking you over ? You still have an additional 8 hours to sell AI-written books on efficiency on Amazon and 3 minutes until Amazon create a new company called uggejgwugwl that sells the same book for $0.2 cheaper and has more reviews.

No, you cannot walk 10,000 steps daily, get 8 hours of sleep, cook every night, clean every day, take care of a family, make time for your own hobbies, and still be productive at work every day. This is not just propaganda, it is nonsense. Free yourself from it.
