Industry is underestimating how many cow/herds will be gone due to #drought2023. As go the cows, so goes the grass. The grass that is lost is not coming back. I'm not sure anyone cares. They talk a good line about the grass but that is as far as it goes youtube.com/watch?v=x5m1A7…

@SteveL6666 Distance to water is a big deal too. We typically skid the trough along as they move through the paddocks, so it’s always within a few hundred meters of where they are grazing. We can cheat with a cheaper pump, doing it this way.

As we get closer to calving, we reflect on the “granny” cows that have made it the long haul. I heard a prominent Angus breeder proclaim that a proven cow is one that has raised three calves🤔. Not here. To us, proven status isn’t until they make it 10 years. #realprofitmakers

@weber4farms For sure. We run very little feed through our processor. Prefer to un roll. I wonder if these unrollers work with silage bales?
