@Kacey_Combs I just fly by the seat of my pants. The last book trended toward horror, which is surprising. Given the action and how everything unfolds, it makes sense now. The next book is already darker... I never meant to write horror, but I let the story drive the theme.

I told my friend I have to find a publisher for my novel, and she said "Well you'll find one, it's not that hard."🙄

I have literally never received a response either negative or positive to an email query, does anyone else encounter this? It’s like sending an email into the abyss

@stepha_henson I think age and experience lends itself more to being able to capture nuanced storytelling. I'm not saying a young person is incapable, just that they don't have a wealth of lived knowledge to pull from. 🤔

“Why, at your age, do you think you can become some real author?” Not gonna lie guys, that one stung. Yes, a real comment - in real life, not just online …. but to my face. It’s not pretty sometimes when you chase a dream.

@FeignedShadows I'll add: someone gets mad It heightens the stakes without being super vague. I'd say it keeps you on the edge of your seat, but what if you're not sitting or borrowing the chair

I need an easy button for my next book's blurb. Here's what I have going so far: My dude and his girl go on a trip, trouble finds them. It's super hard. Who knows if they'll survive. Bum-bum-bummmm! Likely a NYT best-seller

@AuthorGoodwin If it's not organic, I don't talk about it. I'm excited when I'm asked and freely chat, but if that chat fizzles out due to ongoing chats, it's time to shut it down. I could go on for months about the goals but I only get a few minutes...

Does anyone wish people they meet would show more interest in their writing? I'm thinking of getting a t-shirt made that says: "ask me about my books!" #writerslife

@LouiseWeebe Have you ever heard of the movie called Highlander? The battle cry is... there can only be one. Paramount is making a spin-off about a woman in a book store, and her battle cry is... You can never buy just one!!! It's already rated 123% in rotten tomatoes, true story

Whenever I’m in a book shop I have two internal voices. One says, “buy the book”. But the other one says, “you heard her, buy the book.”

@vixfar I've received 2 reviews with a bit less sales. I even chatted a fan off of goodreads, and he didn't a feedback. It'll happen one day... maybe... right? 😆

@Kacey_Combs I'm doing this rn myself. Hard copy, line by line edits! Then, it'll be sent to an editor.

@_Knight_writer Yep, had a beta reader say exactly that, and I experienced it. Then again, those same readers will also say you should reveal one of the side characters is a vampire sooner (it was intimated in the opening dialog 😆)

@LiteraryLucille I recently removed a few chapters because the character interactions didn't drive the plot, and the amount of words wasn't worth keeping. I also removed a character because he only purpose was to drive the inciting incident, and then she was no more. I gave that role to another

Help. #WritingCommunity I’m considering deleting a POV character from my book 😭 but I’m so attached. I just am not sure she is needed. She was just so fun to write. Anyone been there? What did you do???

@sanchez_m_m I've had beta readers ask questions when the answer is literally on the first page. You can drench them in the water you led them to, and they'll miss it. The best one was when the beta said I should have explained a plot twist sooner *attach Fillion gif here 😆

Writers resisting the urge to explain something and trusting that readers will get it. It's me. I'm the writer.
