Degree in politics - therefore hate Tories. Degree in economics - therefore despise Brexit. Grew up in London - therefore despair of racists. Is that enough?

@walte82627 @Nigel_Farage I was schooled in the 1950s and got a PGCE in history. My studies didn’t blind me to the jingoism. We were just like the other colonisers. We chose to take the money and run. You reap what you sow.

@LeeAndersonMP_ Rayner’s council house sale was within rules set at the time (under Margaret Thatcher). Thatcher’s scheme was a shameful attempt to buy working class votes. More shamefully, money raised could not be spent on building new social housing. Pot, kettle, black!

@travos @mrjamesob The elephant in the room did it. The one with the shaggy haircut. Or maybe the one with the pint, smoking a fag. Or was it the one that cut funding for border controls and refugee reception facilities? I guess it was the whole herd ….

@acgrayling Brexit was the worst decision since the Charge of the Light Brigade, and just as pointless. Absolutely rejoin the EU. Carping about difficulties faced by odd pockets of industry misses the point. It’s the biggest market in the world and we’re not in it!

@AshleyJaxon9 @Keir_Starmer In terms of setting the tone. Excellent. In terms of outlining the agenda. Excellent. The Tory press, of course, began sniping from Day One. They are already laying the groundwork for a Pavlovian “working class conservative” response in 5 years time.

@misspaulalondon I was similarly embarrassed by videos of Michael Gove doing the same thing. No doubt his social gathering was an illegal Covid gathering. Pot, kettle, black. And as for Anne Widdicombe on Strictly ……

@mrjamesob I seem to recall horrific scenes involving Michael Gove - possibly at an illegal party. Pot, kettle, black. Etc.

@gavinesler Sadly most of the sleaze being picked up by the lenses originates from you and yours. The proof was public knowledge long before you were voted out.

@AaronBastani @adamboultonTABB It’s better than having the Institute for Economic Affairs (and other Tufton Street inmates) having full access to Tory decision making and becoming de facto, unaccountable, powers behind the throne.

@juneslater17 When I read posts from people who think like you it’s mind boggling! Where do you get this nonsense from? We pay more tax now than ever in the past. That’s the result of 14 years of Tory mismanagement. How else do you explain that?

@mrjamesob As predicted - Day 1: “Tories have lessons to learn”. Day 2 (onwards): endless sniping and scaremongering on the basis of zero evidence. Who instructs these people to write these articles? How can they live with themselves? Etc.

@nickdhurt @Anna_Soubry Always good news when right wing parties are rejected. What do they offer us other than a distorted vision of modern life? What solutions other than a return to the monoculture of the past? What values other than distrust and narrow self interest?

@JonathanPieNews Trouble is, we do actually know what the Tories will do. Same as they always do. Cut public services. Tax us more, while claiming to cut them. Cream off any surpluses for themselves and their mates. As long as Labour doesn’t do that most of us will be better off (& happier)!

@mrjamesob A news feeds today quotes Institute for Fiscal Studies Director Paul Johnson as saying that Tory U-turn (on tax breaks for pensioners) is “another example of a complete lack of long term tax strategy”. Wonder if that will get exposure on BBC or in the Daily Mail?
