3 great whites for lunch. I took 14 Moutard-Diligent Chablis GC Le Clos, very precise with a decade ahead.
16 Aile d’Argent, the exotic rare white of @ChaMouRotschild best I can remember.
Finishing with a delicious but slightly advanced 15 JJ Prüm Graacher Himelreich Kabinett.
Oh no! A less than ideal start to the weekend away… Now my jacket is going to smell like 2016 @FrommWinery Clayvin Vineyard Chardonnay all flight. So bloody excellent.
2020 Puriri Hills POPE final wine for dinner last night. Even so young this is incredibly impressive. Easily mistaken for a top flight Pomerol. Really one of New Zealand’s true greats. 57% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 17% Carménère, 6% Cabernet Sauv, 2yrs in French oak 80% new
A pair of exceptional New Zealand Pinots at dinner. Kusuda Martinborough 2018 very elegant, & now incredibly hard to find (outrageously priced at secondary). 4940 btls. Valli Waitaki Vineyard 2015 a great example with tons of character, always been my favourite of their Pinots.
Something extremely rare from @StevenBrunskill finished cellar! 2010 @HANS_HERZOGwine Nebbiolo. One of the few made in NZ & 1/225 btls! Great example of the variety, at 14yrs really just starting to stretch its legs. Love the certificate and work that has gone into this. Bravo.
@finewinetwitta@HANS_HERZOGwine Was awesome to share with those who would appreciate. Have 1 bottle left but will leave that safely tucked away for a few more years
Forgot to take a photo, but had a terribly undrinkable bottle of Château Pavie 2005 this week. Not corked, not oxidised. Lots of VA, seemed like some type of bacterial spoilage.. Not the first time it’s happened with Pavie either.
Been lucky enough to have a number of vintages. but this the first time I’ve had a Chateau Rayas just between two. With @BlakeRax Réserve Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2006. Always the best way to really appreciate a great wine. Not much to say, it’s Rayas, for me they’re always fantastic.
