Today I’m holding close in my heart all those terminally ill people - both now and in the future - who may have wanted a choice but have been denied that by politicians

A terminal illness robs somebody of so, so much. To put it simply, I believe someone in such a position should be able to have a choice in how their time on this Earth ultimately comes to an end.

It’s an immense privilege looking after terminally ill people. But I’ve seen far too much unbearable pain & suffering - which even the best palliative care cannot relieve - to not support this.

I echo the sentiments of Dr. @Sandeshgulhane. As a student nurse, I support introducing #AssistedDying and I hope MSP’s vote in favour of this in the Scottish parliament today.

Folk like Melanie here who keep using the term “assisted suicide” know exactly what they’re doing - playing on & adding to the stigma that sadly still persists around suicide. Offensive, inaccurate, and plain wrong. Opposition is fine - but show some respect.

@djohnsonmsp Awful take, Daniel. An anonymous complaint followed by rampant ableism across social media. Nothing to say that she's actually done anything wrong. The rhetoric today has been a huge step back for disabled people in parliament and understanding of neurodivergence.

Tories: too many disability benefits claimants are out of work, government must do more. Also Tories: this woman has a job and has gone outside at least twice. Take away her benefits.

I’m dealing with a family emergency, so I won’t be doing broadcast interviews on the John Davidson Tourette’s tic at the BAFTAs story. Hearing the N word shouted at two of the most successful black actors in the world, on stage at the BAFTAs and broadcast on the BBC, was horrible. It made people uncomfortable. It should have. But it was an involuntary tic from someone who lives with Tourette’s syndrome. It was not chosen. It was not intentional. It was not an expression of belief. What’s astonishing is watching people who constantly lecture the public about inclusion suddenly abandon it the moment it becomes complicated. The same voices that demand respect for lived experience are now acting as if a neurodivergent man consciously decided to shout a slur for sport. Tourette’s is a neurological condition. It is not a political statement. It is not a moral failing. You cannot preach DEI and then punish someone for symptoms of their neurodivergence. Even the Royal Household has previously understood Davidson’s condition. Not even the late Queen was immune to his tics he said “F*ck the Queen” TO HER FACE. If that reality can be accepted there, it should not be beyond the rest of us. Two things can be true at once. The word is abhorrent. The tic was involuntary. If your commitment to inclusion collapses when it involves neurodivergence, then it was never inclusion in the first place.

This is deeply evil. Sandie Peggie has achieved her aim: Dr Beth Upton has been forced out of her role despite having done nothing wrong, with all claims against her dismissed. What remains now is a vindictive campaign driven by hostility toward trans people.

The tribunal found Dr Upton didn't do anything wrong, like at all. But she was subjected to years of abuse & accusations. Her life was invaded by hateful bigots who are still claiming she was at fault. Fuck transphobes
