Why won’t David Crisafulli explain his Government’s $38.5 million cut to Domestic and Family Violence prevention services? Why won’t he stand his embattled, failing minister down?

It costs on average $700 to rent a home in the Whitsundays, a 4.5% jump in 1 year. For many, it’s simply unaffordable. Good to catch up w/ Cr Michelle Wright to talk about what the council is doing to tackle housing affordability, but also some of our ideas.

As revealed in the Courier Mail, nearly $40 million in funding to prevent domestic and family violence has been slashed by David Crisafulli and the LNP, and staffing positions have been cut.

Renting is stressful and expensive enough as is. We think you should be able to transfer your bonds between properties, and get the interest earned on your rental bond.

Regional Queenslanders aren't immune from our state's housing affordability crisis - in some cases, they're feeling it much more I caught up with the team at Burdekin Neighbourhood Centre to talk about what they're seeing on the ground, and thank them for the work they're doing

We need solutions to tackle the tradie shortfall, to tackle skyrocketing rents and bonds. We need incentives like free rego for construction apprentices to get people building homes, as well as measures like portable bonds for vulnerable renters.

When governments fail to step up, it’s families who lose out. Right now, in North Queensland thousands are looking to the government for housing - but they’re not getting any. We don’t need affordable housing projects cancelled.

Brian had to cut back on the essentials to cover bond for his new rental. That’s why a future Labor government would implement a portable bond scheme and pay interest on rental bonds. Making things fairer for Queensland renters, who’ve been forgotten by the LNP Government.

Queenslanders from all backgrounds are a part of our shared future, one with better healthcare closer to home, and more homes that workers can actually afford.

Queensland is made richer when we celebrate our diversity, and it’s not often that I get to have Lebanese for lunch Our diversity is our strength - it’s why a future Labor Government would double funding for multicultural groups to hold events.

The system isn’t working for Queenslanders in their time of need. It has to change.

The LNP have changed eligibility criteria for emergency accommodation. They are refusing to review the threshold for social housing. This means Jarrad’s family’s Centrelink payments are considered ‘too high’ for help from the government.

Jarrad’s family became homeless after his wife got sick and he had to leave his job to care for her. You need to hear his family’s story. No Queensland family should be homeless. The LNP need to take immediate action on the housing affordability crisis.

The LNP need to reverse their cruel changes to emergency accommodation requirements. They need to immediately review the thresholds for social housing. Anything less is failing Queenslanders in their time of need.

A mum, with terminal cancer, her partner and her four kids shouldn’t be sleeping in a car. They shouldn’t be turned away by the housing department because their Centrelink payment is considered ‘too much’. But that’s the devastating reality for Jarrad and Lee-Ella.
