WHY THE STARSHIP CATCH CHANGES EVERYTHING Catching the Super Heavy booster with the tower arms isn’t just a flex — it’s the key that unlocks true rapid reusability. Here’s why it matters: • Turnaround speed Ocean or droneship landings still require recovery ships, transport, and heavy refurbishment. Catching the booster directly at the launch tower means it can potentially be restacked and flown again in hours or days instead of weeks. • Cost The rocket itself is the most expensive part of spaceflight. Rapid reuse with minimal work is what drives cost per kilogram toward Starship’s target of under $100/kg. • Flight cadence A multiplanetary future requires flying often. High cadence only becomes realistic when the booster can be caught and turned around quickly. • Closing the loop Falcon 9 proved reuse works. Starship aims for both stages to be fully and rapidly reusable. The tower catch is the biggest remaining milestone for the first stage. This is the difference between a reusable rocket and a rapidly reusable rocket. Everything else — Mars, the Moon, orbital industry — gets much closer once you can catch the booster and fly it again fast. The catch isn’t the end goal.

It is incredible how far the Democratic Party has moved politically. Just listen to @BarackObama on immigration 20 years ago. @HillaryClinton spoke similarly back then. The question of course is why. The answer I believe is not a change in fundamental views, but rather a tactical one. At some point, the Democratic Party believed it had a higher likelihood of staying in power if our country had open borders. When did this take place? What was the catalyst for this reversal of views?
