@A1an_M Yes let's say no to fairness and a decent living wage- better to be exploited and live in poverty!

Great explanation here 👇 of how the minimum wage increases unemployment. Another example from my own experience. I have a long boundary fence at the back of the house (the joys of living on a corner plot). In the past when it blew down or rotted away I'd call a gardening company to come and fix it. But prices have gone up so much (for all the reasons Peter explains) that I'm not prepared to pay them any more and now do the job myself. Slowly and not very well. Mending fences isn’t a particularly skilled job. It would be an ideal first job (or maybe summer job) and first step on the job ladder for a school leaver. But the minimum wage makes hiring school leavers or students for this kind of thing unaffordable. So the job doesn't get created, opportunities for school leavers dry up, they spend their time in their parents' house on benefits, and I spend my weekends hammering my thumbs, and, occasionally, nails. It's just another example of how socialists think they are being kind with their policies of "fairness", but their dogmatic ideology and failure to think about second-order effects, ends up harming the people they think they're helping.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@PeterMcCormack I employ people and would never pay less than the real living wage. I sympathised with you up to the little socialist bit.

BREAKING: Former Trump attorney ALAN DERSHOWITZ said that he believes that Melania Trump was getting ahead of a possibly highly damaging story about her and Epstein yesterday. when she went before the press. Oh boy, what do you guys think this will be about? Seems like someone is nervous.

@ianmiles The US & Trump have LOST against Iran. The Strait is now in Iranian control. Trumps proxy war has given Iran more power than ever before. He is a LOSER and no idea what he is doing.

30,000 Muslims in Birmingham dominate a public space again for prayers, once again men and women are segregated. It was wrong on Trafalgar Square and it’s wrong again here. There are 150+ mosques in Birmingham, why can’t they go there? It’s a domination tactic again.

Ive just had to pay for an old ladies shopping in Aldi. The poor woman only had £5 & her shopping was 8.97. I could see she was extremely embarrassed passing things back to the cashier, it was heartbreaking. Meanwhile illegal invaders are given hotels, meals, & cash which they use for gambling & booze. What an absolute piss take. This & the previous government should hang their heads in shame!
