Our latest census shows a 60% decrease in homelessness since January 2023. This is the lowest count in Miami Beach history! We dedicate close to $4 million in outreach, mental health services, employment opportunities plus more. And we enforce our laws; encampments or sleeping in public are prohibited. Our drone as first responder (DFR) program, an initiative I brought several years ago [bit.ly/msmDrones], is a critical tool. @MiamiBeachNews was the first city in Florida to use this drone technology and one of the first five nationwide. The Skydio X10D drones are launched from two different docking stations with a third in the works. Drones are on scene in rapid time, helping prevent and solve crime by providing critical information before officers arrive. DFR is another component of our Real-Time Intelligence Center which utilizes over 1,700 city-wide cameras and 43 License Plate Reader Systems among other technologies to make our city safer than ever.

$14.3 million! That’s the amount of resort tax collections for March sales, the highest single month EVER in Miami Beach’s history. Several years ago March’s Spring Break was filled with lawlessness and chaos. We then brought Law & Order. For three years in a row we are vibrant and safe. And it’s not just in March. We achieved a NEW 7-month YTD record for resort tax collections in @MiamiBeachNews ($72.3 million). Law & Order is good for business!

We recognized a @MiamiBeachNews legend with the renaming of Stanley “Skip” Bertman Field at Flamingo Park. Skip graduated @miamibeachSHS in 1956 and later coached there for over a decade. He was an assistant coach at @univmiami then built a powerhouse as head coach of @LSUbaseball winning five national championships! He also won medals coaching the USA men’s Olympic baseball team. Skip shaped generations of young athletes, and Flamingo Park’s baseball field will stand as a lasting reminder for our youth of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication.
