Fun thing! Recently I alerted the ever-indulgent to the existence of the Compact Edition of the Oxford Dictionary, something I've wanted since HS (a *long* time). She demanded I track one down and order it. 1/n

I actually think we will have UBI in 20 years. Going to be very interesting to watch the cognitive bottom 50% spend their money on weed, motor toys, and gambling, next 40% on cruises and theme parks, and the rest on art, tools, gardening, books. Real H.G. Wells / Huxley stuff.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

@travis4nh Disappointing. Hopefully the people elected to replace them will do better.

3/ I think it's quite likely that AI is going to replace all humans with IQs of < 120 or so in 5-10 years. This is going to be a sea change. I really do recommend Nancy Kress' " Beggars in Spain " (though she got the moral exactly wrong because she's a lefty).

2/ Tractors replaced oxen with an IQ of 5. Rototillers replaced retarded farm hands with pitchforks with IQs of 45. We are already in a world where there is absolutely no use for anyone with an IQ of 90 or less (besides staffing public schools). x.com/TrueAmPatriot8…

@travis4nh Cars, tractors and electricity generated insane utility and they directly resulted in the unemployment of many, many people; some temporary, some permanent. We still did fine without any UBI.

Elon (implicitly): AI will generate insane utility, and unemploy some people, and we can use some of that utility to provide for the people who lose their jobs Kinsella: ok, but what if instead of that we did a bad thing? That would be bad. ok...yes.
Stephan Kinsella@NSKinsella

Inflation is not the only problem, and Musk seems to be unaware of the Austrian business cycle issue. If you fund all this by inflating the money supply, in effect by printing dollars, it still sets in motion a false boom and thus the business cycle.

All of the "injustices" caused by the entirely fictional concept of "racism" actually do happen all the time but precisely to the people that progressives hate and they think it's funny Imagine this story being told by a Black Woman - there would be movies about it, she'd be invited to the White House, etc. In reality this is just the normal, everyday operation of a System run by petty, spiteful people indoctrinated into an insane and evil belief system all acting mostly on their own imitative to "do good"

In 6th grade I was told my short story was “too good” to be in the short story competition and that I should resubmit it “next year in middle school”. (They didn’t want someone that looked like me to win)

Schoolmarm suspicion of gifted kids, especially boys, seems to be rooted in psychological communism and egalitarian social aggression. Clever boys can be allowed to advance on merit if seen as benevolent; otherwise, grades and discipline are recruited to put them in their place.

It's misguided to make school discontent about being "130 IQ" or whatever because a below-average IQ child still stands a good chance of being smarter than their teacher

Ooooh do I have a story. When I was working in Amsterdam a bit over a decade ago, we had an internal email chain going around. Colleagues (all white) were looking for a house cleaner. Everyone chimed in to brag about theirs. One had a Guatemalan, another a Peruvian, and another a Cuban. All working below the legal minimum wage. All my colleagues were liberals and I -- the so-called fascist -- was the only one cleaning the house myself because it felt wrong for me to even consider exploiting an immigrant...

My impression of the anti-electoral-college sentiment is “this feature that was added to prevent small states from becoming electorally irrelevant is working as intended and that’s bad actually” Did a federalist steal your girl or something

Hume's most dangerous idea: cause and effect is an illusion. We assume it. We built civilisation on it. But we've never actually seen it.
