The Case for Godzilla’s U.S. Citizenship
1. Birthright Citizenship Under the 14th Amendment (Jus Soli)
Godzilla wasn’t born in some ancient Japanese volcano. He was awakened and transformed by U.S. hydrogen bomb tests at Bikini Atoll in 1954. Those tests occurred in territory under full American administration (the U.S.-administered Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands). The 14th Amendment states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”
If his radioactive “birth” as the modern Godzilla happened under U.S. nuclear jurisdiction, then by jus soli (right of soil), he’s a natural-born citizen. Uncle Sam literally engineered him.
