US Leveraged ETF growth is exploding:
The number of US-listed leveraged ETFs is up to a record 700, now more than double the number seen at the end of 2024.
More than 400 of these funds are leveraged single-stock ETFs.
This comes as ~210 new leveraged funds have been launched year-to-date, already surpassing the ~205 seen in the full year 2025.
In the first half of 2026, leveraged and inverse ETFs made up 31% of all US-listed ETF launches, up from 22% in all of 2025.
In June alone, 117 such funds had their debut, nearly half of the total 239 ETFs launched in the US market.
Leverage has never been more popular.

Fable 5 fixed my poorly designed and vibe coded project that would have cost me ~$1,400/month. Three fixes brought it down to ~$250/month.
Iris, my JARVIS style desktop assistant, runs on Gemini Live (real time voice over WebSocket). The mic streams while she's awake, hands long running tasks to a local agent (Hermes), and announces the results.
Calculations are based on ~5 hours/day, 30 days/month.
What was actually happening
- Audio is tokenized at 25 tokens/second, including silence. An open mic in a quiet room costs exactly the same as speech: 90,000 tokens/hour at $3/M input.
- The Live API re-bills your entire context window on every single turn. It also stores raw audio, not transcripts. That means every "hey, quick question" at hour 3 pays to re-read hours of accumulated audio history, including all that silence.
- The result: A 10 second exchange at the end of a long session costs many times more than the same exchange at the beginning. Around 97% of my bill came from the model re-reading history, not from the conversation itself.
The three fixes
- Auto sleep: After 60 seconds of silence, Iris closes the session completely (the on device wake word continues listening for free). If Hermes is still working on a task, Iris goes to sleep and automatically wakes up when the result is ready.
- Session resumption: Google provides a resumption token that's valid for 2 hours. When Iris wakes up, it restores the full conversation context, picking up exactly where we left off. No loss of continuity.
- Aggressive context compression: I reduced the sliding window trigger from ~104K to ~16K tokens. Recent context stays in the live session, while long term memory lives in Hermes' knowledge vault, where it belongs.
With real time voice APIs, you don't pay for talking. You pay for history and idle time. Manage the session lifecycle and context window properly, or the meter keeps running even when nobody is speaking.
