Rajwinder Singh, a married 41 year old Indian National, was found guilty of the murder of Toyah Cordingley at Wangetti Beach, north of Cairns, Australia.
Singh, 41, stabbed Ms Cordingley repeatedly and cut her throat at the secluded beach, where she had gone to walk her dog.
Singh fled to India the next day.
He was finally arrested three weeks after a record $1 million reward was posted for information leading to his arrest.
Singh claimed to have witnessed “masked killers” on the beach before fleeing the country in fear they would kill him too.
He was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years to life.
In sentencing, Justice Crowley branded Singh a "gutless coward"
