I think we will see this keep happening to classic B&Ms now as they have no hesitation to cut off manufacturer support, and I'd be surprised if any of them are replaced by new generation B&Ms. Parks will just buy from Intamin and Mack etc, who are much more innovative.
Expedition Theme Park@ExpThemePark

After 33 years the sun is setting on Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa as the iconic B&M will be permanently closed on August 2nd 2026. The coaster has reached the end of its life and will be retired. @BuschGardens

@RCXcyclopedia @Urbex_Coasters Even with that Fury is an insanely large coaster Something like Orion or just the Giga version of Mako would also still leave room for their park updates Part of me does not believe it's going to be a B&M though

No shade intended to anyone, but the replies to this tell me that most of you do not understand at all how expensive a 6,000+ ft Giga coaster costs in 2026 & beyond. My wording was poor though so sorry lol We’re probably 2.5 years away, but I CAN’T WAIT FOR “KUMBA’S REVENGE”!
Roller Coaster 𝕏cyclopedia@RCXcyclopedia

🚨BREAKING ALERT: Rumors Confirmed! Kumba is officially closing on 8/2 and will be replaced by $100M roller coaster titled “Kumba’s Revenge”… B&M Giga? Can’t think of any other model that’s gonna have that price tag!

I grew up going to Busch Gardens, it's my home park...So many of the coasters are so important to me and my family But at some point you have to move forward. Parks that don't evolve stagnante I loved my time on Kumba, but at some point it's time for new adventures Relax and enjoy the ride!

@coastersnbrews So two years ago, sitting at a bar, next to who I found out was a United Parks board member. I was told Kumba is coming down eventually. This person actually was the person they said they were, but they were very drunk when they said it.

Is Kumba really going away? This has been a long running rumor for the last 6-7 seasons. The thing is we really don’t feel like it was a rumor. Feel like the park has been contemplating getting rid of it for a while now and this just could be the season they pull the trigger.

Space Mountain is in the dark. 99.9% of Walt Disney World guests would never even notice if the track was completely changed. I’m not saying they should change it, but who would actually notice if they did? Most people would not

@AParkMind @ogorangebird It couldn’t handle 10x current volume. On any given busy day, they have a queue going to the right side of the pyramid, outside of the pyramid, just for tequila flights.

@ogorangebird potentially but dealing with a year or 2 of complications and reduced foot traffic for 10x the current volume longer term could be worth it

While the Mexico Pavilion can't handle a long wait. It could be expanded to do so to make an E Ticket out of a 5 minute wait

@jake_coasters I hope not. They literally just got a shuttle coaster and now they’re getting another. They might as well just buy 3 sky rocket 2s.

I think a lot of parks will be watching the Big Giant Tentacle Phantom Spire Tower Coaster project very closely Are we prepared for an era of very strange shuttle coasters that break very strange records?

@jake_coasters Theming. Disney definitely does the finishing details better but Universal definitely does overall theming better.

You have to remember. When they built it, the only building codes they had to abide by were their own. Now they have to get permits and inspections from the state and local governments. I don’t think that building would’ve passed 1970s codes, let alone today’s. If they make modifications, it will most likely have to pass. I think the building has to come down.

@Stigg00 I think that only happens if they absolutely need to....like concrete cancer or something that costs more than building new

There are many examples of rides in much smaller buildings that offer high capacity coasters, a modest "expansion" or the existing building is entirely possible without impacting anything. If you dont like change, just say it, but don't suddenly become experts on new subjects
Tommy Hawkins@tommyhawkins

@SirBrayden Brayden, size isn't everything. DLP has a 2 min ride, not 30 sec ride with a significantly smaller gravity building. The people mover isn't boxing in anything. Its a very easy problem to solve. not everything has to stay the same forever

@AmusementInside I never thought about that possibility. Looking at it now, there would’ve never been enough run off if the trains just went straight after the final launch.

Here's the CityWalk spaghetti-bowl section overhead layout for Fast & Furious, Universal Orlando. Pretty confident about this section here. Enters in top-left from Plaza Stage. The large element after the double launch may be different. Video below
