5 questions that Data Engineers should know answers for: 1. Why are we doing it? 2. How do we know what we have and what we know? 3. How do They know we are doing it correctly? 4. What will or can happen if it goes bad? 5. How do we get rid of it?

@jyoti_mann1 Did the token count replace or runs along their original, primary engineering metric: lines of code? It also used to have serious dashboards to compare employees.

Exclusive: Meta employees are “tokenmaxxing” and competing on an internal leaderboard called “Claudeonomics” for status as a token legend. Over a recent 30-day period, total usage on the dashboard topped 60 trillion tokens.

@PAHoyeck Similar theme to @DeivonDrago’s, but: Universities should not be vocational schools. Anyone who is primarily motivated by getting a job or by earning money should not attend one. A “university careers fair” should be a contradiction in terms.

@ericweinstein This reminds me of a similar patterns within Soviet Union between party and scientists, as described in a book "From Newspeak to Cyberspeak" (by Slava Gerovitch). Do you think it might be related?

I want you to watch for something that is happening right now. Tech and Science sound similar. They used to, to me. Now watch for "Tech Leaders" with 10 figures of wealth or more running down scientists at every opportunity. "Machine Learning Just Killed IQ." "AI is now better than PhD level in all areas." "Shape Rotators are so cute." "Engineers > Researchers" "Word People > Math People" "DEI killed Universities. There is nothing left." "Money Success > Prizes" This isn't random. You are being primed. I wish I knew why. But I don't. I know these people. And they are WAY WAY WAY smarter than these statements. These statements are, pardon my use of their new favorite juvenile word, completely retarded. Something is up related to National Security. This is a crazy dangerous narrative suddenly coming from too many voices of people who quietly vacation together. Some of them are my friends. A few of them are brilliant. But this is scaring the crap out of me.

I found a helpful strategy for using LLMs for assisted software development, if long-term deep understanding of the code is needed: Retype their output like if it were a BASIC program from an 80's magazine or a book and pass the code through your eyes, mind and your fingers.

Computer beige aesthetics may be boring, but at least I know what I can push. Sorry, I am not a designer, you will not get anything better for the systems dynamics playground from me than this, which is better than pure black.

New feature in Poietic Playground for Systems Dynamics: curve editing of a graphical function node. You can now set-up your custom prices, or weather temperature or cake cravings.

You don't attract top AI talent with free lunch and ping pong tables. You attract them by giving them interesting, solvable problems. A reputation for having unreliable, frustrating AI systems is the fastest way to become a place top engineers avoid.

Nothing beats paper. New geometry, diagram composer and SVG export integrated in the Poietic Playground app. Oh, and note the alternative jolly systems dynamics pictogram set. Soon-ish on main branch. (@SwiftLang extension in @godotengine).

New diagram geometry backend in the works. Goal is to have common geometry for interactive apps and for generated image output. This is a test of touch points. (Generated output).

After I clean-up my prototype code, I hope not to see the SVG specification for a long time.

Pictogram library can be designed in any vector-drawing application that exports SVGs (with specific structure/layer names). Processed pictograms are compiled into a pictogram collection with layout metadata as seen in the generated (debug) catalog.

Poietic sketch: ETL approach for foreign design representation. Will be used for imports, persistence and copy&paste. Tricky bits: preserve object identity, and revision(frame)-relative parent-child relationships.

Don't forget that LLMs / AI coding tools are NOT good at building novel things. They are good at copying what is out there and what they've been trained on Right now, cutting-edge startups are building *so much* novel software, using new libraries, frameworks etc. Guess who you need to get these done? That's right: software engineers (who often use AI tools for the non-novel stuff btw!)
