I know I'm a terrible football fan these days, but I always dread seeing "Good news, following a pitch inspection the match is on!".
Which, in my mind, translates as: "Yup, its going to rain all through the game and the pitch will be a mudbath.
"Enjoy standing in the cold!"

It depresses me how much fellow political journalists are down-playing this - a dranatic story not just about Russia corrupting a British politician - as they've done in Germany & France - but also about the character judgement & relationships of Reform leaders Farage & Tice.

It's an important story this, & deserves much more attention. Nathan Gill was an important ally of Nigel Farage, and one of the few former Ukip MEPs whom Farage allowed to stand for the new Brexit Party at the 2019 Euro election.
