Today, four of our S5 pupils attended their assessment day & graduation day for the @EDTScotland @IndustrialCadet Gold award, where they presented their design for a defence system for the Eurofighter Tycoon. We are very proud of their efforts! #industrialcadets #STEMeducation

Earlier this month our Higher Human Biology learners had the opportunity to visit @surgeonshall in Edinburgh and engaged in workshops on the History of Surgery and Genetic Mutations. Fascinating stuff!

Today we are showing racism the red card at St Margaret's Academy! These posters have been designed by two of our talented pupils in S1.

Some of our S1 students have been consolidating their understanding of separation techniques by planning and carrying out experiments to separate the different components in an 'alien soup'.

Our S3 Chemists have been carrying out flame testing in class. Can you tell which elements have created these flame colours?

Last week some of our S5/6 Biologists were visited by Aryelly Rodriguez, a statistician who works on clinical trials at @EdinburghUni. This brought to life what they have learned about clinical trials in school, and gave them an insight into Aryelly's pathway into her career.

Recently our Advanced Higher Chemists have been learning about the technique colorimetry, and using it to determine the manganese content of steel.

Earlier this month a team of S2 pupils took part in the IED Faraday Challenge. They had to design an engineering solution to a future flight problem, and presented their idea to other teams & staff from across WLC. They demonstrated great skills & did a fantastic job - well done!

Some of our S4 Chemists have been working on dilutions and the PH scale using universal indicator. A lovely rainbow to brighten up your day!

Over the next few weeks we would like to introduce some of the staff in our dept. Mrs Mabhena is the Head of Science & Art and teaches Biology. She has a whole school role in family learning and also helps out with DofE. Pop by the Science base or L38 if you need to talk to her.

Today our Advanced Higher Biologists have been investigating how temperature affects cell membrane permeability. They certainly look the part!
