@AaronBastani I agree but aren’t you the big baby who had to take 6 months off work with depression when someone in your family died? Imagine if we all did that. Ah my hamster died, I’m depressed. I need 6 weeks off work. What happened to the backbone of our society. Most are wimps.

I literally just want houses to be built, trams in major cities, the restoration of heritage architecture, Britain to train more engineers & for nurses to not pay £56k of student debt.
This is just politics as a hobby or fandom.

The best case scenario (and I admit that it’s a long shot) for 2026 is that we end this year with: 🇺🇦 a decent peace deal in Ukraine, and that Europe finally gets its shit together to prevent further 🇷🇺 aggression. 🇮🇷 🦁 A free Iran that no longer funds terrorism in 🇱🇧 🇮🇶 🇾🇪 🇸🇩 & many more 🇸🇦 🇮🇱 a normalisation of relations in the Middle East leading to a second round of Abraham Accords 🇻🇪 a South America free of dictators preventing the biggest oil fields from enriching the world (is it too much to hoo 🇨🇺 topples too?) 🇹🇼 all of this leading to the isolation of 🇨🇳🛠️ with no sanctions free access to oil and West civilisation on the path to rescue and a return of confidence “International law” will have accomplished none of this. The bravery and strength of 🇺🇸 🇮🇱 🇺🇦 and people on the streets of several continents will have. If this sounds like a future you want, back politicians who will work for it, not one who say it’s impossible and that process is more important than outcomes.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote his first 2 Sherlock Holmes novels in Southsea, Portsmouth, where he was a GP.
The 1st picture is that building today. The 2nd is Conan Doyle in front of it in the late 19th C.
The other 2 pictures are of the road, Elm Grove, before WW2 & today. 😭
