Bojang, Lamin Drammeh, and Bambi Jah—for absconding during an official two-week training programme on migration management, border security, and document examination at the Italian Police Training Academy in Nettuno, Rome. The officers were part of a group of twenty Gambian participants in a bilateral cooperation initiative between the Gambian and Italian governments, but they disappeared from their residence before the programme concluded. The department described the act as premeditated and planned, stating that it undermines the integrity of the institution and the country, strains diplomatic ties with Italy, and damages the professional reputation and perceived loyalty of Gambian immigration officers.
