I remember when Johnny Carson and Dave Letterman ended their shows. The last week of episodes were an event -- great anticipation of who the guests would be, and the shows were epic. No one is even paying attention to Colbert -- no one was watching leading up to the last week. Springsteen???? Really???? The original Springsteen fans who were there when he burst on the scene with a couple of great early albums are in their 70s now. I became a fan in late 70s, and I'm in my mid-60s. His first 3 albums -- the ones that made him -- were Jan. '73, Dec. '73 and Aug '75 -- 50 years ago!!!!!!! Had Johnny Carson done the same thing he would have brought on Bing Crosby to sing "White Christmas" or the Glenn Miller Orchestra -- both of whom were among the most popular musical acts in 1942. Letterman ended his show in 2015, and his final musical act was a long-time favorite of the show -- The Foo Fighters. Had he gone the Colbert route, he would have tried to book the Beatles -- could have been a problem.

My biggest issue with John Fetterman (@JohnFetterman) is that every time I hear his name, I immediately get “Better Man” by Pearl Jam stuck in my head.
Now, it’s not that bad, since it’s a freaking awesome song. But still, why can’t I know someone whose name reminds me of “Double Rum Cola” by FATA BOOM? Or “I Am Steve” by Hey Steve? (oh wait, I guess my friend Steve does that.…)
Anyway, he lives in my apartment building and is, in fact, a giant who I sometimes fear may destroy my village. But also, when I see him in the elevator, for example, there it goes again: Eddie Vedder.
Honestly, I guess I should probably thank him?
