@StoneAgeGWOT Depends when nordic ends/starts. As for scandinavia, their golden age was probably Charles XII rather than vikings. Anyway, the point of the post is that of the biggest countries, the best performer (in this dataset at least, which I find better than normal) is Italy, basically.

Nordicists argue how they are more athletic than s. europeans. But if you check the Top 5 countries by gold medals in the Olympics (so, with a reasonable pop. size) and sort them per capita, Italy outperforms every country bar the UK,global empire for a lot of the sampled time
