Didier Fuentes has made the Atlanta Braves’ Opening Day roster and at 20 years old will be part of their bullpen — and he earned it. Fuentes’ numbers this spring: nine innings, no hits, no runs, no walks, 17 strikeouts. He was too good for the Braves to deny and is a huge talent.

@A_Jude I’m particularly glad you mentioned Ken Phelps, undoubtedly the most underrated player in Mariner history. If modern analytics had been around, he would have been regarded as a star. Put up a .913 OPS in 6 seasons in Seattle.

Kyle Seager's on my short list of most underappreciated hitters in M's history, along with the likes of Mike Blowers, Bruce Bochte, Ruppert Jones, Tom Paciorek, Ken Phelps and Leon Roberts. What say you, @StoneLarry?

So sad to hear of the passing of Dave Newhouse and Carl Steward, two Bay Area sportswriting legends. Both were exemplary journalists and first-class human beings. They will be immensely missed.

@kennlandry The Padres beat the Mariners 27-6 earlier this spring, so by my calculations the Rangers are 41 runs better than the Mariners.

The Rangers beat the Padres, 22-2. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s quite a lot of runs.

I'm excited to announce that on Monday I'll start a new chapter with the @latimes, covering the Dodgers. It's a paper I grew up admiring as a West Coast girl. I'm honored to be joining such an impressive sports staff and looking forward to covering another historic franchise.

Personal news: This is my last week at the @Suntimes. It's been an amazing four years at the paper and six covering the Cubs. I've worked with so many wonderful people and have fallen in love with Chicago. It's going to be hard to say goodbye. Thank you all for following along!

@StoneLarry Larry, can you share with me your powers over X? This tweet (?), which I enjoyed the first couple of times by the way, has followed me around my browsing like a bad habit. Ten times today at least, and you aren't reposting. I guess X knows how much I admire your work.

One more legacy of Bill Mazeroski is the outstanding annual baseball magazine he published in the 1980s and ‘90s, for which I was honored to do the NL West write-ups for several years.

@StoneLarry So @StoneLarry was it difficult writing those previews before they invented paper? Was there a good supply of stone tablets? 😉😜
