A Nigerian court sentenced human trafficker Christiana Uadiale, also known as “Christy Gold,” to five years in prison or an optional fine of 11 million naira, around $7,200. Uadiale was spotlit by ICIJ’s 2023 #TraffickingInc investigation. Read the story: icij.org/news/2025/07/j…

Approximately 80% of Nigerian women in Dubai end up performing forced sex work. They are lured under the false promise of legitimate employment. Once in the UAE, the victims face unimaginable horrors -and are subject to threats, violence and debt bondage slavery. #SendThemHome is on mission to break the silence on these illicit networks within the UAE: sendthemhome.co.uk

“Every day, thousands of people are trafficked - sold a dream of a better future, to only be presented with a grim reality of entrapment, slavery, and often sex work”. – Angus Thomas, founder of sendthemhome.co.uk and Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi, Director-General of @naptipnigeria You can read the harrowing stories of human trafficking survivors that #SendThemHome has supported: euobserver.com/opinion/157749

. @speedlighters joins the @CHR_HumanRights, University of Pretoria “Africa Rights Talk” podcast to discuss his experiences supporting survivors of human trafficking. During the podcast episode, Angus shares how a chance encounter with a Nigerian woman in 2019 revealed to him the dark and hidden world of human trafficking. Since then, Angus has dedicated his career to rescuing and repatriating African women who have been trafficked to the UAE, and protecting at-risk communities through education and awareness. Listen to the full podcast in to hear Angus share insights on how the UAE continues to turn a blind eye to the issue, and how we can all play a part in eliminating #humantrafficking africarightstalk.podbean.com/e/s6-e3-breaki… #SendThemHome #StopHumanTrafficking

“Victims are always recruited by people in positions of trust.” - Angus Thomas, Founder of sendthemhome.co.uk #SendThemHome Once victims arrive in the UAE, they typically have their travel documents taken away. They’re told they owe their traffickers a debt in return for arranging their new job and travel - debt bondage. Victims must repay this "debt", usually around $10,000 for a victim of sex trafficking, before they can leave. Watch our campaign film and hear the courageous stories of survivors like Mary, Anita, Katherine and Mariam who speak out to ensure other women don’t suffer their fate: youtu.be/Kg41TwbbYMc

Major sporting events like the #SuperBowl can be hotspots for sex trafficking. There are nearly 28 million people trapped in human trafficking worldwide. That’s enough to fill every seat of Vegas' Allegiant Stadium every day for the next two years. At #SendThemHome, we rescue and repatriate African women who have been trafficked to the UAE. Visit sendthemhome.co.uk to join our vital mission. Together, we can educate communities, support survivors, stop traffickers, and change lives.

Deceptive promises lead vulnerable women into the nightmare of being trafficked into Dubai. From online job advertisements to propositions from people they know, women are tricked into travelling to the UAE with the hopes of lucrative employment and a better life. Upon arrival, their phone and passports are taken away and they are trapped, forced into prostitution. Since 2019, Send Them Home has tirelessly worked to expose this dark reality that occurs in one of the world’s most sought after cities. Help us end the exploitation of countless lives: sendthemhome.co.uk/donate #SendThemHome #HumanTrafficking #ForcedProstitution

On New Year’s Eve 2019 in Dubai, Angus Thomas, the founder of Send Them Home, had a transformative encounter with a 25-year-old Nigerian woman named Amy. Amy had been trafficked from Nigeria in August 2019 with promises of a lucrative job. Returning to London, Angus worked to secure Amy’s release from captivity. Within four days, Angus had secured the funds and was able to repatriate Amy back to her family in Nigeria. Send Them Home has now successfully repatriated numerous victims from Dubai to Nigeria, offering hope to those trapped in the horrors of sex trafficking. Send Them Home relies on public donations to continue working on rescuing women trafficked to UAE: sendthemhome.co.uk/donate #SendThemHome #Dubai #UAE #HumanTrafficking #Repatriation

“They’ve set themselves out to be a cook and they go out there and are sexually exploited. Even if they were rescued, they then come home with no money in their pocket.’ - @speedlighters, Founder of #SendThemHome. The shame of being sexually exploited is a tool used by human traffickers to further control and exploit the women they deceive. Find out how you can help support our mission to rescue and repatriate women trafficked to the UAE: sendthemhome.co.uk #HumanTrafficking #Dubai #SendThemHome

The ease of obtaining visas within the UAE creates opportunities for exploitation, including human trafficking. Facilitated by travel agents, the flawed system has allowed for Dubai to become a global hub of human trafficking. Your support makes a difference: sendthemhome.co.uk/donate

“It turned out she had been trafficked. She signed up to come to Dubai to make a lot of money. What I felt from her was that she had suppressed any emotion around the subject of her present situation because she was utterly hopeless.” Angus Thomas, Founder of #SendThemHome and #HopeEducationProject Help us rescue and repatriate women who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation and trapped unwillingly in the UAE: sendthemhome.co.uk
