@EBagnatori @arrogant_texan @BGatesIsaPyscho They don’t “account” for curvature, the measurements are converted to your globe/geoid model AFTER being measured flat. You can apply linear measurements to pretty much any shaped model. That’s the magic of math, the globe just translates easiest.

@Stormsurfer83 @MMAJunkie so you just call or go online and reserve for however long you want couple days whatever and they charge you by the 'hobbs' meter (basically its the time the prop is spinning) so to take a plane out to see the dunes and stay for a night or two could be as cheap as $350

@David1276615190 @MMAJunkie Badass, thanks for sharing. Maybe one day if I hit the lotto I’ll learn how to fly, I’ve always wanted to but the cost is prohibiting. Lots of cool places to fly over and see, wouldn’t mind seeing the dunes of Oregon from up high.

when it gets really hot inland and 50 degrees cooler one mountain ridge over it can get interesting, depends if your flying a corridor like say just following along hwy 199 that can create a literal wind tunnel through the passes. the mountains out here are low enough that getting over and flying any direction over them isnt a problem. like when i take the same plane to say tahoe there's only two ways you can fly to get there that are low enough. extremely dangerous. the weather on the coast can change instantly from visual to instrument rules so you always have to keep that in mind but for the most part you kinda tune into the seasons and weather and just plan time of day around that. getting used to landing at sea level with a cross or quartering wind is the hardest part. it does get gusty enough to put you out of safe operating parameters.
