After a very long horrid tough birth, this little one showed signs of being a dummy, we gave her vitamins in house, 2 x Madigan squeezes, ensured we helped her drink 2/3 xs an hour for 15 hours and this evening she hopped up, drinking by herself and has smashed her iGg and vet checks out of the park ❤️ result of my year this baby! Please do go learn the Madigan squeeze it’s the best thing ive ever added to our foaling knowledge bank! Yes we are tired but worth every single second!! Obviously she will be monitored closely going forward but this milestone is HUGE! Mum is doing superb we are very proud her and how she’s taken everything we threw at her to get baby out ❤️

So wonderful to see. What a brilliant king standing servant to the Alan King yard. Congratulations all!

We have very sadly lost the battle to overcome Sir Gino’s ailment and he has had to be put to sleep at the veterinary hospital this morning. He has been fighting from severe deep-seated infections that he had overcome last year prior to his brilliant return in the Christmas Hurdle but this time it had spread too far although his fractured pelvis was healing well. He was not only brilliant but one of the nicest kindest horses you could ever wish to see and this leaves an awful hole in Seven Barrows this morning and a very sad day for Joe & Marie Donnelly. They have had some wonderful horses over the years and they both care so much for them so losing such a young star with his life in front of him is particularly cruel. Sir Gino was unbeaten in all his 7 starts including 3 Grade 1’s over hurdles and an amazing display in a Grade 2 Chase on his one and only start over fences. We would have to say that he was just at least as good as any of all the amazing horses we have been lucky enough to have trained. Unforgettable in every way.

The decision is helping to protect his life. We can all make our own choices regarding risk. Horses can’t. They trust us to choose for them. It wasn’t just the number of falls, it was the nature of them. There was pattern recognition across his races that indicated a danger to his life. Connections have shown him great respect and chosen wisely. He was such a happy horse on Friday night. He really enjoyed himself and had his mojo back. I can totally see the other side of the coin but I do think it is the correct decision. The horse has to come first. #constitutionhill

Jokes aside, if racing can bend over backwards to create a race & stabling, attract runners, splash the thing over papers, socials & TV in a short space of time with the only selling point being 'Come watch this fantastic horse' then it should do it again. And again. And again
