For younger kids, giving them physical objects to play around with can really help them solve this puzzle...

A farmer needs to get a bag of seeds, a hen and a fox across a river. He can only take one thing in the boat with him each time. If he leaves the fox and the hen alone together the fox will eat the hen. If he leaves the hen and the seeds alone together the hen will eat the seeds.

How many squares can you see? Don't forget to use the strategies you used for the rectangle problem we did before...Good luck!

For the older kids - if you had two dice how many different combinations of numbers could you get if you threw them both? What about if it was a 10 sided die or 12 sided?

For the younger kids - can you find some different ways to put the coloured squares into the bigger box? You could draw the shape on a piece of paper and see how many different solutions you can come up with.

There were some excellent attempts to this problem. Now for the solution..... Remove the matchstick from the top and bottom of the zero and use them to make a 1 in front of the 5. That will give you 15118. Then just look at it upside down and you get 81151. Well done everyone!

For the middle classes, could you estimate the weight of some objects and then weigh them using the weighing scales and see how close you get. Don't forget you will need some items with a known weight to compare them to, otherwise it would just be a guess and not an estimate...

So today's challenge is to see if you can make patterns. For the infants, see how many different patterns you can make using the cutlery in your kitchen. You could post a photo or a video.....

@hilaryconnolly Look at that upside down Ella and see what you get. Excellent work. It can actually go a little higher but love how you are thinking...

Today's challenge for the younger classes: take out 8 matchsticks or spoons or cut out 8 strips of paper. See what different shapes you can make. Try it a few times and see if you can come up with different solutions. We would love to see some photos.
