“[t]he question comrades must ask is whether we are nationally bound socialist movements with international connections, or an international socialist movement with national sections”

partisanmagazine.org/2025/09/09/str… Also this is imo one of the most important articles I've written this year. I think it outlines a key task of our tendency and a vital duty of ours to reforge the Comintern

1. Every state is a product of class antagonism & organ of class rule. 2. Today, the state is either bourgeois state or DOTP. 3. Bourgeois state reinforce and reproduces class structure. 4. DOTP abolishes class structures, especially commodity form, so that it withers away.

@Gattungswesen25 You can disagree with it but that’s the line of the CCP. And that’s what we should argue with if we want to productivly criticise them

The current condition is ripe for the abolition of the commodity-form, lol. Maybe that argument made sense decades ago, but it doesn't make sense now.
Strategische Perspektiven@StratUndOrga

@Gattungswesen25 The counteragument would be that under current conditions the Expansion of Capital is more in the interest of the workers then the abolition of the Commodity-Form because it creates the objective conditions for socialism

@Gattungswesen25 Sorry didnt See that you anticipated my counterpoint. And I think this is the much stronger Argument. Still think it’s a bit mechanistic

One might respond that as long as the state's long-term goal is the abolition of the commodity-form of labor power, then it's OK to maintain it medium-term. But once the state manages generalized commodity, generalized commodity production determines state's interest for capital.

Let's suppose China manages generalized commodity production on workers' behalf. This entails maintaining commodification of workers' labor power for surplus value extraction for capital's expansion. But workers' interest lies in the abolition of commodity-form of labor power.1/
Strategische Perspektiven@StratUndOrga

@Gattungswesen25 For me the more critical Point of premise 2 is the on behalf of Capital Part. Communists that Support China would obviously argue they manage generalized Commodity Production on behalf of the proletariat

I imagine people will reject premise 2. My defense of premise 2 is to point out that wage labor is the predominant form of labor in China. If wage labor is the predominant form of labor in China, then there's generalized commodity production for capital accumulation.

I dont think this is true tbh. This is a problem that I have been mulling over in the context of PBP in ireland, particularly wrt to county/city councils. The reality is, the compromises that come with running a government run pretty counter to the goal of building a 1/5
DC🪴🌹@morematerial

@comradejumpshot If we are capable of winning the struggle to administrate we have a duty to engage in that struggle. Running a government while building a socialist pole and the inevitable compromises that come with it are better problems to have than the problems of being in opposition.

Communism needs to be less rigid in its aesthetics and presentation. People need to be able to imagine themselves in a communist world, and the goofy images of Stalin and basic sect aesthetics interfere with that.

Socialists need to stop hiding behind terms like "leftism" or "the Epstein class". We should call ourselves what we are and call our enemies what they are as well: the capitalist class!!!

@EcoTechBro Obviously. But the question at hand is if people who are not doing it can be in Organizations with people who are, while still fighting against it. I just don’t think there is a shortcut to doing politics and convincing your comrades

Lenin rightfully forced a split from the Mensheviks for less. I don't understand people who are familiar with the case studies of the German and Russian revolution, acknowledge this same big tent error of the DSA, and then keep going like there's no problem.

@EcoTechBro And the efforts to learn that lesson led to the pitiful state of the movement right now. Of course reformism and class collaborationism needs to be defeated but that won’t happen through the next small but radical sect.

You could also apply this lesson to the PSI in Italy I'd say. I feel like "revolutionaries need to split from social democrats long before a revolutionary conjuncture" was one of the most unambiguous lessons of the revolutionary wave in the early 20th century.

Every so often I have an internal reflection of why I joined the RCO and why it means so much to me. The answer it keeps on coming back to is the promise of 'Revolution in our lifetime'. I've spent so long seeing a left refusing to truly a genuine alternative just tinkering...

Karl Marx died on this day in 1883. At his funeral, Marx's lifelong friend and comrade Friedrich Engels delivered a eulogy predicting Marx's work would endure through the ages. We reprint Engels's speech here in full.jacobin.com/2022/03/friedr…
