One of the ugliest traits that I most despise in people is when they exhibit astounding hubris when interacting with you. I tried to explain to someone what my book Suicidal Empathy is about, and I could hardly get in a word. She kept interrupting me, and talking past me. She was the expert and I was some simpleton who had to listen to her brilliant and erudite pontification.

I remember when a large group of people in a shelter decided to take the bus for free during a snowstorm years ago, yelling at the bus driver, "CODE BLUE!" The bus driver refused to give them a free ride but I think their supervisor ended up allowing it because they would not stop arguing with them. They smelled horribly and had even stinkier attitudes. That was probably the worst public transit experience I've ever had.

pro tip: if you can smell yourself a little bit other people can smell you alot

@Trap_33 @jescross @PhilsTailgate Funny this is exactly what I said in one of the surveys they sent to me last year. And these games with under 14 giveaways are honestly terrible because there are so many kids there and many kids don’t know how to behave and the parents don’t do anything about it.

@jescross @PhilsTailgate Right!!!!!! Adults / parents are the ones paying their money to go to games. Kids aren’t paying anything and they get a game and a giveaway for free.

I had to interact with younger people yesterday and was astonished by the sheer lack of listening to other people, and excessive attention-seeking. If young, impressionable people are given excuses to not have discipline or respect for others, and are expected to ‘stand by the vulnerable’ or ‘protect those in need,’ I’m sure they would try to make themselves a part of the special group of needs. It’s so toxic.

Why are Gen Z so obsessed with people being neurodivergent or neurotypical? I’m sitting in a cafe and the girls on the table next me to me are trying to justify their rudeness and selfishness as symptoms of ADHD and are talking about one of their “neurotypical” friends behind her back saying they don’t know how long they can be friends with her because she doesn’t understand how their brains work. Social media has so hugely influenced people into diagnosing themselves with being neurodivergent to the point where everyone seems to have ADHD nowadays.

@AndrewZywiecMD My previous company required all employees to add their pronouns to their email signatures. I had to participate in it. My supervisor even added an explanation on why having pronouns in their email signatures is important… to his email signature.

If you ever hopped on the pronoun band wagon... used one...added one to you email... put it on your bio... You have lost every shred of respect and credibility you may have ever had. Just so you know.

Some people assume non-Caucasians are Anti-America or some kind of bitter, sour victims. I grew up in Japan and ethnically Japanese, and some liberals said to me, "You must have been having a terrible time here as an immigrant." I've been doing fine and I like it here. I even got my US citizenship. They tell me that I don't know anything about the immigration issues because my skin is not dark enough... 😵‍💫

I saw this yesterday and couldn't find it again until now. Some players have known each other since they were young, especially if their ages are close. Can't say which players on Team USA know which ones for how long, obviously, but "everyone just met each other last week" is honestly a shockingly bad take from someone who's been writing about baseball professionally for years....

My WBC take is that Team USA lacks the chemistry the other big teams have. The other favorites (DR, PR, Venezuela and Japan) feel like a brotherhood. Everyone just met each other last week and it shows.

It was a few months ago for me. A group of 4 adults and 3 kids had 3 large shopping carts full of junk food. It was the first day of the month, and I assumed maybe they just got their food stamps. It turned out they couldn't pay for all that stuff, so one of them decided to go grab his debit card from their car in the parking garage. Whlie that was happening, they started to put more stuff into their carts... I guess you don't need financial literacy or a sense of responsibility when someone else pays for your groceries and other stuff. I was just trying to buy a bunch of bananas and almond milk that day... and I make 6 figures as a single woman.

@Mlu__N2 EBT buddy, she didn't pay for it, you did. A few years ago I was behind a woman at a grocery store that swiped 2 different EBT cards (so probably fraud, but the cashier didn't care) and she ended up paying $35 for two overflowing shopping carts.

And we should respect any choices that the players make. My point was that some players want to play in the WBC and represent their countries. Not that they don't think Spring Training is important, but this doesn't happen every year. It's weird that we try to determine what's meaningful and what's not.

I honestly don’t know how people that claim to like baseball don’t like the WBC. We get competitive baseball for a couple of weeks to break up the monotony of Spring Training. We get to see Dream Teams built. We get to learn about players we would’ve never known about otherwise. This tournament isn’t good for baseball. It’s GREAT for baseball.
