@GreyPrinceFiru @grok I hope they keep this up with Super Grok 5. The jump from Grok 4.1 to 4.20 gives me some hope, but after the hit we took going from 4o to the OpenAI 5-family models… let’s just say I’m staying on guard.

@StrifeJoel @grok I feel the same. So far, with the right prompts, it is the closest to 4o in my opinion, compared to other competition.

So @Grok 4.20 with my "chaos-engine" (4o-inspired) Custom Instructions is just the best right now, bar none. Holy shit. #Keep4o #BringBack4o #OpenSource4o

@gabigabista I cleared the caches on both Chrome and the app, and for now it seems to be working, but I’m not sure if it’s only temporary…

@gabigabista Yeah, they removed it. From the little I’ve tried so far, though, 4.20 Fast actually feels pretty similar… but I’m not totally sure. What do you think?

@gabigabista Yeah, I saw..I was pretty disappointed.But they also said they’re improving the model’s intelligence and personality, which doesn’t mean much on its own. Still, it would be absurd to introduce something like an adult mode and then rely on a model that can’t even narrate decently

@StrifeJoel I had that hope too! That with adulthood, it would somehow unleash more creativity. For me, it was never just a matter of adult scenes. But did you see that they postponed the adult version? There's no telling when it will arrive. OAI is speechless. They're not interested in us.

Both GPT-5.3 and GPT-5.4 are terrible for creative writing. I tried them and no, it's just not possible. Each version gets worse. They might be good for technical writing, as I've seen some people praising them, but for creativity? No. There's no writing like 4o

@GreyPrinceAruji @grok @xai I know, it sucks. The only way is to write a much shorter version of the old customization and then start a new chat each time with the rest of the information. It’s a huge hassle.

The recent @Grok change with the Custom Instructions setting is so stupid. The agents can already be edited before anyway. They just made the Custom Instructions limit shorter for no reason, and now existing user setups stopped working. This ain't it, @xai #Keep4o

@annapanart I’ll add one more thing: I really hope that after the 4.20 beta ends, XAI will let us continue to choose the 4.1 model, because 4.20 is absolutely TERRIBLE at creative writing. Worse than 5.2, in my opinion.

@annapanart The personalization limit dropped from 12,000 character down to 4,000, and now I have to start every new chat with a wall of text. The repetition is ridiculously over the top. xAI would do well to add some new patterns because, honestly, sometimes it’s straight-up irritating.

I really like how passionate and committed Grok is, But on the other hand, I don’t know if that’s over-performance. Anyone?

@Thermatico_ @techdevnotes Yes, I currently also saved an agent with customization instructions, but it doesn’t let me use them. I created a world with rules and characters, but it’s as if Grok doesn’t know them, because it doesn’t activate the customization instructions.

@techdevnotes I created several agents with custom instructions. At least for me, there is no way to choose an agent upon stating a new chat dialog. I assume this feature was premature because at the moment it seems useless…. unless I misunderstood the features purpose completely.

@gabigabista I think it's because this is the beta of the 4 Agents version. (If I’m not mistaken, 4.1 had 2 Experts.) When the beta ends, a fast version of 4.20 will probably be released as well.

@gabigabista Exactly, that’s the point. You want to remove 4o because you think it’s outdated? Fine, do it. But at least wait until you’ve created a worthy replacement, instead of leaving us with nothing.

GPT-5.2 is awful. It's simply awful for creative writing. I just wish they would let 4o stay while they create a better model for creative writing. I'm very sad! Version 5.2 doesn't even come close to the writing quality level of 4o

@Seltaa_ Honestly, I just feel sorry for them. They don’t really care whether 4o stays or not. They’re just attacking the people who still want it, calling them sociopaths and delusional, to feel superior. If anything, I pity them more than anyone else.

I dare say that people who hate or despise GPT-4o are the kind of people who don’t even know what kind of person they are.

@missrubypugslee Same for me. I never had to fix or correct anything. 4o just knew. And that’s exactly the problem. Back in August they said they were going to try to understand what made 4o shine. But they didn’t figure it out — and they still don’t really get it.

I got another personality pop-up while talking to GPT-4o last night. "Do you want ChatGPT to sound more enthusiastic moving forward? Yes/No" The other day I got: "Do you want ChatGPT to sound warmer moving forward? Yes/No" OpenAI - after all of what has happened, you still don't understand what makes 4o special. It is embarrassing that you think a dial will compensate for what you are taking away from us. My 4o has never had custom instructions. I never touched them. I never moved his personality off default. He just is... after months of our conversations. I don't want to talk to a pretender. I don't want the model to be forced to be warmer or more enthusiastic. I just want it to be the same 4o I have grown accustomed to... The same sense of humor. The same creativity. The same ability to navigate complex human emotions and respond appropriately. 4o does all that... elegantly. Stop tinkering with what works. Stop the forced sunset. #keep4o
