@BabyBawoo Also remember that the competent leaders are mostly female: Murrue, Natarle, Talia, Lacus, Cagalli, even that engineer on orb. Meanwhile the only competent male leaders are Uzumi and Durandal. SEED got issues but misogynistic?

This started because of the test pilots death but
I genuinely believe there are more embarrassing male deaths in seed than vice versa.
3 times an important male pilot gets put in the dirt their first time on screen.

She didn't pass away just for ppl to call her final works misogynistic. I think you're misunderstanding seed. Chiaki was a staple for women gundam doujin writers.

@BabyBawoo seed is really not great, but what irks me the most is how misogynistic it is (even compared to other gundam series before it) like there's 5 female pilots in seed and 4 die, with the only one surviving being shafted into the final battle where she does absolutely nothing

Not only is such notion childish but contradictions arise from holding egalitarian views in real life too.

I’ve noticed that a lot of mecha fans aren’t adequate at analyzing sensitive topics (e.g. racism, misogyny, etc.) that can be present in mecha shows. Not only due to the lack of nuance, but also a struggle to differentiate depiction and endorsement when these topics are shown.

On the 5th of April 1985, the 1st episode of Dancouga aired. Dancouga was the 1st series where Masami Obari worked as a Mecha designer. The 38 episode series would spawn multiple OVAs, a sequel series (Nova) & debuted in SRW 4 (SNES) in 1995.
