@Strombo94

The only way to get to the top, he told them, was to stick together, stick to the Revie code and stick two fingers up to the establishment.

@UrbanCourtyard Among the ~100 Detroit Haussmann buildings I'm midway through modelling on the east end of BIFC: the only corners that aren't chamfered are 90° of buildings with colonnaded bases, for aesthetic reasons as shown below. ALL other corners are chamfered or filleted. 🙂

When they write the history books documenting the American urban revival in 21st century, there will be a section covering the renaissance of chamfers in structural masonry, featuring Austin’s work with Townsend. Small but very important geometric move. Sharp corners make cities harder to navigate. We need to smooth cities, improve sight lines, chamfer more corners
Austin Tunnell@AustinTunnell

We’re cooking! Really exciting to see it come together. These chamfered corners….they add add so much to the design and soften the edges.

If you reduce GOT houses to “race”, you didn’t understand the world at all. What you’re seeing is history, culture, and geography layered together: -The North mirrors hard, survival-driven Scottish clan culture -The Iron Islands are basically Norse raiders with zero interest in farming or peace -The Targaryens echo imperial Rome mixed with myth and a superiority complex -The Lannisters operate like old English elite dynasties obsessed with power and legacy -Highgarden feels like French court life, beautiful, strategic and political -Dorne is far closer to Moorish Spain than the random “Italian” label people give it -The Dothraki clearly pull from Mongol and Turkic steppe empires -The Vale has that isolated mountain-kingdom energy (very Swiss-coded) And then you’ve got the Boltons… who aren’t tied to a place, just the darkest side of feudal power. Trying to map modern race labels onto Westeros misses the entire point. It’s about culture, geography, and power not 1:1 representation. Most people still completely misread the North.

@Antonioarmanio @Uc_heyy02 The Bank of International Settlements is based, which is the singular most powerful organisation that the vast majority of people have never heard of. It therefore holds immense relevancy.

Just got off a zoom call catching up with a friend of mine from the Boy Scouts who is now a bank manager. Told him that inflation has to be constant because loans create new money with interest and that interest has to be paid off somehow. explained that even the bank of england has written papers describing exactly this process. they all admit this openly. He was literally stunned and almost fell out of his chair. "You mean money is lent into existence? every time a customer draws a line of credit they just print it? and the money supply is constantly increasing?!" this is a guy who is a math major and works at a major bank. even the people running the system don't know how it works.

In 2015 I ran against Peter Mandelson for Chancellorship of The University of Manchester. The votes came from three areas: The Board, The Alumni and The lecturers. I am not afraid to say that when the registrar read out the voting numbers on the phone I shed a tear. Lord Peter Mandelson: 5,269 votes Lemn Sissay: 7,131 votes. I served my full tenure as Chancellor from 2015 to 2022. Peter Mandelson pivoted and almost immediately aligned himself as chancellor at Manchester Metropolitan University which had no such system of voting. One of the greatest honours of my life is to give service. I loved being chancellor. I haven't commented on this particular matter up until now. I just want to say thank you to the people who voted for me. You made the right decision. @RussellGroup @alumniUoM @uomhums @ManchesterSU @ManMetUni

@mtmalinen @atapene @pati_marins64 If that was true, Iran would also show the bodies of dead U.S soldiers. It would be a huge propaganda win causing massive outcry in the U.S. But obviously there's nothing to show, except these half-baked speculations by analyst larpers.

In her recent piece @pati_marins64 explains that there was a massive special forces operation near Isfahan, which failed massively and was turned into a "pilot rescue operation." What I like to add to this is that it was a trap. My Finnish-Iranian contacts told me that a traitor was apprehended by the IRGC, which then fed false information to the @WhiteHouse . Just consider this. In a war, would you let everyone know where your most precious military asset is located? Of course not, but @SecWar bought it. The IRGC and Iranian military executed a perfect operation, which most likely led to dozens of killed U.S. and Israeli special forces and tens of POWs apprehended. In their panic, @CENTCOM and @POTUS turned the fiasco into a "rescue operation," while in reality it was a special forces operation that went horribly wrong. They also do not tell you anything about it, because it would destroy the myth of U.S. military might alongside the presidency of @realDonaldTrump . The only play the desperate U.S. administration has left is bullying (piracy) combined with 'psychological warfare' in the negotiations, which Patricia details in her recent analysis. I am rather certain the Iranian negotiators, if they even attend, do not fall for it. @araghchi @mb_ghalibaf @drpezeshkian

@MStarkey_18 @LCFC @_joshhollandd Chat GPT scrapes examples from the internet to learn from. Most pre-AI relegation statements were very similar to this so AI as learnt from those hence it replicating them. It's not "scary," it's programming. AI doesn't think, it replicates and adjusts.

Following confirmation of Leicester City’s relegation to League One, Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has issued the following statement: To our fans, Relegation to League One is now confirmed. As Chairman, that responsibility sits with me. There are no excuses. We have experienced the highest highs and now the lowest lows, and the pain is shared by all of us. I am truly sorry for the disappointment we have caused. I understand the strength of feeling among our supporters, and we do not take your support for granted, especially at moments like this. Our focus now is on what comes next. We will take the necessary decisions to move the Club forward, working together to rebuild, improve, and restore the standards expected of Leicester City. Our objective is clear – to respond strongly and compete to move this Club forward again. We will face this head-on. We will keep going. Together. Top

Horror in Dubai. A 24 year old American female airline worker in Dubai has been arrested. Dubai police installed a surveillance tool on her phone. Without her consent. They found her sharing an image of a burning building with her mother. So they set a trap. They pretended to be her office staff and called her in for a meeting yesterday. When she arrived, she was arrested. 2 years in jail. That spying tool is installed on every foreigner's device in Dubai. That means the Dubai Police are watching everything foreigners send to their families. Every message. Every photo. Every video. Including the most intimate moments. Dubai has denied her a lawyer.

@cirnosad The Americans rescued their pilot, killed a whole bunch of Iranian soldiers. This right here in your picture was done by the Americans. They destroyed their own equipment to keep the Iranians from getting it. Only cowards take credit for something they didn't do

My statement is based on CBS News reporting US officials: an Iranian vessel approached too close, was engaged defensively with Hellfires—no damage to the Lincoln or escorts. CENTCOM denies all IRGC strike claims; carrier remains operational with ongoing flights, per recent photos and updates. Fog of war exists, but unverified propaganda isn't equal to confirmed ops data. No bias, just cross-checked sources.

This is the question every admiral in the Pentagon was asking early this week that the media hasn’t covered. There is outrage in anti-Trump circles after a U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship because it looked like an unfair fight. While weak and incapable compared to a U.S. Navy submarine, that warship was armed and fully capable of destroying unarmed merchant ships. Were they loading up to sink a supertanker? A massive containership? Did the U.S. Navy have intelligence suggesting they would? We may never know. But I am certain that preventing that possibility was part of the calculus for why the Navy sank that warship.

Here is the new reception hall awaiting completion at the White House. It is pure Beaux-Arts. Late neoclassical/historicist, a synthesis of Greek/Roman + French/Italian Renaissance + a touch of Baroque, inside very ornate and luxurious (unlike the more sober pure neo-Greek or the simpler Palladian neoclassical). America celebrates its European roots, while Europe despises them. Grand and beautiful!

@WarboRedDog @AwayDaysClub_ Yeah it's a nightmare for us too. I think we only put between 2-3.5k tickets on general sale if that. The same amount goes to members but they are sold out in seconds. One of the bigger issues is scalpers buying for resale and inflating the prices to sell to tourists.

A Nottingham Forest fan’s rant about modern atmospheres in Premier League stadiums has gone viral, and many supporters will likely agree with her… 🗣️ “They don’t want us. They don’t want loyal fans. We’re cheaper, we’re worse behaved, and we’re not just going to sit pretty and clap. We’re fans, we’re real. It’s our life, it’s our community. These are just excuses and we can’t give in to them. And I don’t think it’s a countrywide issue, I think it’s a Premier League issue. The Championship—I don’t want to go back down, I don’t want to jinx it—but the atmosphere was so good, I miss it. The banter between stands, the fact that we were actually singing. You go to—no offence, and you’re not going to like this—but you go to Anfield and it’s dry. You can hear things through the tannoy. All we hear when we go to Chelsea or Arsenal is one song, because it’s just tourists. It is just tourists. We are the product. We pay the wages at the end of the day. I know literally it’s not us, but why do broadcasters want to broadcast football? Because there are fans. Without fans, there is no football.”
