Now gone fully electric (car wise). Mrs T’s big banger 2 litre Cooper Sport replaced with this unobtrusive number. Remarkably is quicker!

@SamRaincock It depends what you were coming here for. I knew you mustn’t live here, as you had difficulties navigating the City Centre. To be fair, it isn’t easy. I think it’s done that way to discourage vehicles as much as possible.

I was in Newcastle earlier this week driving, and the whole city is a disgrace. There is not a single route into the place that hasn’t roadworks or looks an utter mess. It really is not good for the city at all.

Next time you have an issue, call me. You don’t need to go telling tales and consuming officer time with tittle-tattle
Cllr Lee Scordis@LScordis

@nickycash @russellquirk Nope, I was abroad and with 9 years experience would not need to attend an opening 'how-to' meeting. I have complained to standards as Mr Quirk has broken several rules here.

People often ask why we don’t stock this era of NUFC shirts & this is exactly why. The flock Northern Rock sponsor if left unworn in wardrobes and drawers will absorb moisture and once whacked in a washing machine will crumble more than our 95/96 premier league title charge.

@Sam_Dumitriu @Victoria_Spratt I don’t think Rayner should release the facts Sam. I know Rayner has a public profile, but her Son and the Trust are personal matters and they have the right to privacy.

If you're referring to Dan Neidle's tweet, then that's not right. The law is clear. The issue was about the facts of the case. It appears Rayner's KC had evidence the facts were not as they seemed in Sir Laurie Magnus's report. For the sake of transparency, she should release the letter in question.

Two leading tax specialists tweeting acknowledgments that they were wrong about Angela Rayner’s case now that they’ve seen all of the information and spoken to her KC… We don’t like to think the law is confusing or subjective, but it is!

5 years ago, a cowboy builder stated construction next to my building. They cut off our boiler flues illegally, and built up against the wall where our boilers were supposed to emit - putting residents in danger, and then threatened to sue us?!? It was wild. We are still waiting to find out whether @hackneycouncil will enforce - they’ve stopped replying to emails We - the leaseholders/freeholders - are out of pocket to the tune of more than £20k due to emergency repair works Building control was a private company - they say not their problem. Make it make sense? And you wonder why we have a housebuilding crisis and a quality crisis.

I have been loyal to every Labour leader since I delivered my first leaflet as a 12 year old. But, like many colleagues, I’ve been expressing concerns for some time about the direction of travel of our party in government. Last week’s local election results brought such concerns into sharp focus. Our party is the greatest organ for social change this country has ever seen but, if we carry on down this road, we face an existential threat and risk letting down the very people we are here to represent. Through the unstinting work of Labour Councils across the country, we have delivered some remarkable things. Last week hundreds of them lost their jobs because people on the doorstep told us that they didn’t feel the government was on their side. Many of them specifically blamed the Prime Minister for failing to deliver. We ignore the electorate at our peril. In July 2024, my party was elected with a mandate to deliver change. When the country voted for it, they did not expect tinkering around the edges or business as usual; they expected meaningful change that would begin to reverse more than a decade of decline. Let’s be clear: our government has delivered some transformational things. Stronger rights for working people. A genuine shift towards putting more power closer to the people. Real attempts to tackle some of the injustices and inequalities that have held communities back for too long. But too often, significant achievements have been overshadowed by chaos, drift, and a lack of clarity about who we are and what we’re here to do. People don’t expect perfection from politicians. But they do expect purpose. They expect leadership and vision. And right now, too many feel they’re not seeing either. Our party and our country are at a critical moment. We need a serious contest to decide Labour’s future - and that means widening the field, not narrowing it. Andy Burnham should be allowed to stand in the Makerfield by-election. I’ve known Andy a long time. I’ve seen how he leads, how he connects with people, and how deeply he believes politics should not be transactional but focused on improving lives. At a time when we’re losing support in all directions, he is someone who can bring people together. Someone who understands our country, who connects with communities beyond Westminster, and who knows how to turn Labour values into practical change. The Labour Party has always been at its best when it has been bold, rooted in the lives of working people, and confident enough to have the arguments that matter. This is one of those moments. If we’re serious about rebuilding trust, reconnecting with the country, and delivering the kind of change people voted for in 2024, then we have to seize it. It is the chance to elect someone who can take the country forward and deliver the genuine, progressive change that areas like mine are crying out for. It is about hope and not despair. Politics is crying out for leadership that feels grounded, authentic and rooted in people’s day to day lives rather than Westminster psychodrama. Andy has shown that kind of leadership in office. Labour shouldn’t be afraid of that contest. We should welcome it.

@Victoria_Spratt Government allowing private Building Control was a mistake. Was there a Party Wall Agreement? I suspect not.

@AlexanderPHRose @slbsn Burnham is from that Constituency too and has lived there for a number of years. That will be a positive factor for some voters.

@slbsn It’s a major gamble, but I think he will win. Metro Mayors are popular figures with proven track records. Reform’s line that a vote for them will remove the PM doesn’t wash in these circumstances either

I don’t think Burnham will win Makerfield. Labour’s vote is going to be split in multiple directions. Really doubt Burnham is so popular as to offset that

@52Vinyl Thanks, I had a quick Google to see if I could catch them, but unfortunately not. They were in Sunderland earlier this month. Glad you got to see them. I’ll play the Trinity Sessions sometime over the weekend.

@Felstedboy @mike56200 It’s mostly metal and has some value. But the refrigerant gas should be purged firstly and be correctly disposed of. Something, a scrap man won’t do. The refrigerant gas damages the ozone layer.

Found 2 fridges on the estate yesterday, no compressors they get ripped out by passing scrapmen. The rest of the fridge is left or dumped. People still put them out for the scrapnen regardless. I reported them but it's such a mess

@littlemore20 @mike56200 Collection is usually at a cost, because to be recycled correctly, the refrigerant gas has to be removed and properly disposed. Scrap man won’t give a hoot about the escaping gas damaging the ozone layer when they remove the compressor 😢

When the customer says make me fence that means we don’t have to sell up and move because of the neighbours…then the pressure is on! A willow hurdle I wove in situ makes a nice tight weave and did the trick🥳. Hazel and steel for the uprights and 1 year old willow for the weave.

I'm gonna have to be careful tbh, when I used to do it a lot (talking most days) years ago it was always a petrol guzzler and last night was no different! thats the advantage of the food delivering as much shorter around town, easily would have spent £10-15 on petrol last night I imagine

Earned £49 last night as I went back to doing Amazon Flex deliveries for the first time since April 2022 🚗📦 If you’ve never heard of it, you basically deliver Amazon parcels in your own car using their app for navigation + parcel scanning. Really simple once you get going. The algorithm gods sent me miles away though, so it ended up being about a 50 mile round trip ⛽️ Still, £49 for 2.5hrs with guaranteed money isn’t bad compared to food delivery where you can sit around waiting for orders. That now puts me on £80 extra this week 💰 Probably keep £30 aside for petrol/tax and put £50 straight into investments 📈

Got 3 posts in after work for the solar pergola. Ignore centres for now 😁 There's going to be a rail at 2.1m, the top. Rafters down to a rail top of the fence. Rafter, fastensol rail, brackets, overhang, 2.4m! HTF can I lift the panels over!? Two tower scaffolds? 🤯 Ideas?
