Let me take you back 116 years to the summer of 1910: I've cleaned-up this astounding autochrome of young Hélène Gélibert, engrassed in her crochet and enveloped in such beautiful iridescent light! It was taken in Monplaisir, France, by the Lumiere brothers and it depicts their niece (the daughter of Juliette Lumière). It is an original colour process from 1910 and not colourised.

@StuartHumphryes That colour is so vivid. Thought it was a still from sci-fi movie for a second. Lovely work 😀

Photographed in colour on 26th September 1909, this amazing autochrome by Léon Gimpel is entitled "The Balloons on the Esplanade des Invalides" which captures the Parisian launch of several gas balloons (as opposed to modern hot-air balloons) participating in a long-distance race organized by the Aéro-Club de France. It is an original colour process from 117 years ago and isn't colourised.

@JaideBlue @DWMtweets @filmisfabulous I can't tell you how excited I am by this news - there isn't a missing 1960s story I'd rather be rediscovered. So for me, this really is pinnacle TV treasure. Now I'm just tapping my fingers impatiently for the blu-ray! 😂

Let me take you back 102 years to the inter-war London of 1924. I have cleaned-up this gorgeoous, soft-focus Autochrome of a pavement artist on the Thames Embankment in June 1924, taken in colour by the visiting French photographers Roger Dumas and Camille Sauvageot. It is original colour, not colourised.

@Lomquiche Gorgeous. And to think such fleetingly ephemeral chalk images should be preserved for our enjoyment over a century later!

@Blackmoor_Film Two important points for you: (1) It was not film stock - Autochromes were glass plates, and (2) My feed is entirely about rejuvenating old colour photographs, so the saturation has been boosted. A little research goes a long way!

Travel back 105 years to the Art-Deco extravagance of this amazing celestial costume, featured at the Salon du goût français ("The Salon of French Taste") which was an innovative trade exhibition of luxury French commodities held between 1921-23). This autochrome is original colour, not colourised.

@StuartHumphryes I mean...it's a bit bland for my taste, really... 😂 Seriously, it could inspire a whole space rock opera in one photo. xxoxx

@StuartHumphryes Dont think so. The well drawn eyebrows & eye liner are something that dont fit the particular time frame.

Photographed in colour 100 years ago - this is an Autochrome portrait of a young Hindu girl in Agra, India, in 1926. It was photographed by the visiting French photographer Jules Gervais-Courtellemont and is original colour, not colourised.
