Grenada also has a French Creole language that is endangered. It currently has less than 500 speakers. But over 100 years ago the whole island was fluent and only spoke French Creole. Things can change super quickly if we don’t fight to preserve our afro- creole languages!

I think the biggest takeaway for me during this Speed tour is how much we as English speaking Caribbean people are missing out with Guadeloupe and Martinique purely due to language - and they’re literally next door.

Caribbean leaders must have a little shame the way these streams show how close and connected the islands are. We literally can’t afford to visit our neighbors but we can see the next island from the beach.
