He leans in to her ear and whispers, “Did you miss me?” As he draws away, he playfully snags her earlobe between his teeth.

As if each press of her lips is constricting him; deadening his breath in his throat, Daario is rendered speechless in this moment. Instead of a retort, he takes her chin and draws her face upwards, until their lips are aligned. With mischievous eyes, he says, “And again.”

“𝑀𝑖𝑛𝑒,” he says, savoring their closeness. “An interesting word coming from the freer of slaves...” He runs his thumbs across her wrists. “I do not want a slave,” he says. “I want a queen... a queen who makes the 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 to return to me, again and again...”

At this, he crooks his brow. “Keep going,” he teases. “Always 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡?” He steps closer until only a thin space remains between them, closeness turning what used to be air into a column of electricity. “Speak 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 vow, my queen.”

He answers the call and steps towards her, as he always does. “Always?” He says, taking her hand and pressing his lips on the back of it, lips warmed by the fire beneath her flesh. “I thought it was me who swore an oath, not you...” He’s playing, of course.

“I thought flame couldn’t burn a dragon,” he says, wetting his lips. “But, if you must catch fire... let me burn with you.”
