Notice for Shinnecock East, the parking lot has reached capacity.

Shinnecock East outer beach will have limited capacity on the ocean due to high tides/rough surf and visitors may be asked to park on bayside.

Notice for Smith Point, the outer beach is closed until further notice due to high tide.

Notice for Indian Island, picnic area parking and point are at capacity.

As of Saturday afternoon 8/10 Smith Point outer beach is now open.

As of Friday night, 8/9, Smith Point outer beach is closed until further notice due to high tides.

Notice for Cedar Point: Reservations for this fall will be made available starting tonight at 7pm. Reservations can be made through November 11, 2024 when the campground closes for the season. The planned construction will not affect the campground areas.

Updated closure times: Tomorrow, Sunday, 8/4 from 6AM to 11AM the Smith Point Bridge will be closed to traffic due to the annual Smith Point Triathlon. Please plan your trip accordingly. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this annual event.

Notice for Meschutt Beach: As of 12:45, the parking lot is currently at capacity and will be only letting cars in as cars leave.

Notice for Indian Island, as of 12:15 pm on Sunday 7/21, the point picnic and beach area is at capacity. No additional cars will be allowed at this time.

Notice for Smith Point: as of 11:15am on 7/7/2024 the outer beach is at capacity. No additional cars will be allowed on at this time.

Notice for Cupsogue: as of 11:45am on Wednesday 6/19 the parking lot is at capacity.

Notice for Smith Point: as of 11:40 am on Wednesday 6/19, the outer beach is at capacity and no additional vehicles will be allowed on.

Beach update: May 25th As of 7:30 am Shinnecock East parking lot is full

Cedar Point peninsula has been closed to protect the Piping Plover nesting grounds. As a reminder, The piping plover is a coastal shorebird threatened and protected under the Endangered Species Act.

Smith Point is experiencing issues with erosion and a section between Cut 2 and Cut 3 is impassable. Please use Burma Road to access the Eastern end of the outer beach section. Cupsogue outer beach has been closed to the barricade. Please use the parking area along Burma Road.

Please be advised that we currently have restrictions in place at several of our outer beach locations. Attached are maps showing the current conditions at three of our outer beach locations. For additional information, refer to the maps provided.

Starting April 1st through April 14th , hunters may submit one lottery application with first and second choice location/date. On April 22, hunters can call the West Sayville office to make additional reservations.

Attention Spring Turkey Hunters, Suffolk County is participating in the Spring turkey hunting season. You will be required to purchase a hunting permit and ALL locations are by reservation only.
