Fellow fursuit makers- do you do anything besides fursuits for additional income? And followers, what would you be interested in besides fursuits? This year has not been great for sales, and im wanting to find other ways to get income that isnt more commissions

@TungstenCarb Yea, ngl, that's kinda discriminatory. My follower count should have nothing to do with being accepted to vend at a con.

@SuitFurself I’ve thought the same thing and realized that in order to sell at conventions they look at your social media. Not just website 😭 Trust me, I’d love to leave all this too. Sadly my telegram channel has only two followers so no one looks at it

I know I shouldn't tie my self worth as an artist to my number of followers, but the more I watch my follower count drop on certain sites, and the engagement become almost absolutely nothing, the more I feel inclined to leave social media entirely in favor of just having -

follow because of one "viral" post or herd mentality, then unfollow 3 weeks later, because I haven't posted in that long, and they question who I even am to begin with.

a Telegram channel and website. Cause at least that way, I don't have to remember to post to 5~ different sites, you as a supporter don't have to turn on notifications or jump through hoops to see content, and I get the peace of mind knowing that people aren't just going to -

@TungstenCarb Yea, it's definitely hard either way right now. 😮‍💨 I want so hard to remain affordable, but I also deserve to be paid what I'm worth, so it's a struggle!

@SuitFurself It's a mixed bag right now. Some artists do well with commissions or premades, some not so much. It's all about exposure right now. The market is flooded with premades and it's hard for folks to see customs other than the big names.

I've been overwhelmed with all the notifications lately, but I'm genuinely curious... should I actually open for commissions again or...? I just really hate how capitalism has destroyed the value of labor and skill. I see so many talented folks underpricing themselves to compete

with mass/quickly/easily produced markets and it seems impossible to keep up. 😮‍💨 I'm just really getting the vibe that people don't want to pay for the labor. I've always taken pride that I don't outsource or 3D print parts, but if people don't value it, then what's the point???
