Historic visit of prime Minister Modi to Norway. Narendra Modi will stay in Oslo today and tomorrow. His visit is the first of an Indian Prime Minister since Indira Gandhi in 1983. Modi will have lunch with King Harald and the royal family and dinner hosted by prime minister Støre. He will chair a large India - Nordic business summit and meet representatives of the Indian diaspora. Tomorrow Modi will meet all the five Nordic prime ministers in the India - Nordic summit. There is a huge business delegation traveling with the prime minister. India is expected to quadruple its economy up to 2049 and become the worlds second largest economy, on par with the United States. So far Nordic business has been a bit slow to grab the opportunists. I hope the visit will help form new partnerships. Particularly promising sectors may be maritime, renewables and health. The Nordics may bring technology of interest to India and India can scale and drive down prices? Both India and the Nordics wish to see a true rules based order. We have common interests in ending wars in Middle East, Ukraine and Sudan. India is the third largest renewable nation and is emerging as a global green leader. When Washington is the epicenter of uncertainty, India and Europe should join hands for a stable and people centered world order. The Indian diaspora in Norway is tremendously successful!
