what’s so great about shape is that at this level, it’s a laboratory for true believers. just as it was for bitcoin and ethereum when they began, shape is an open world for the believers and we build something real & big together and we decentralize it, making it the shining city we all want to live in

shape is early. the world has not embraced NFTs bc the use cases are still few. but the idea of onchain objects is inevitable, as @AthenaResearch will show
there is no world where the world fully integrates fungibles into the global economy and then halts there. NFTs will be a much bigger economy than fungibles, as it is in the real economy. we've built shape to be the strong foundations for this future

Doubled down on my @shape airdrop with a purchase of additional tokens today. $8.7m FDV feels like a great bet on such an aligned, long term thinking team. Very small overall bet. But thought it was worth highlighting the valuation here.

$SHAPE just went live and almost no one noticed. $SHAPE is the native token of @shape, an L2 purpose built for NFTs and onchain objects. It launched yesterday and flew completely under the radar outside the inner circle. But for traders and investors hunting asymetric opportunities, heres what caught my attention: • It got a day-1 @Kraken listing. Trading is already live on @Kraken. Thats rare for a fresh launch. • @Coinbase may be next. Their MiCA whitepaper (linked below) explicitly states that Pattern Engine Inc, the company behind Shape, is persuing both Kraken AND Coinbase listings. Kraken already confirmed, so who knows, perhaps Coinbase is imminent. • Well funded team. The whitepaper shows Pattern Engine sitting on $18M. This isnt some scrappy side project. • Institutional custody ready. @Anchorage support confirmed. Now heres the kicker: current circulating marketcap is just $1.2M. You read that right. Less than some random dog coin someone cooked up in 10 minutes. Meanwhile this is a L2 token with a day-one Kraken listing, Coinbase in their sights, Institutional custody locked in, $18M funded team behind it. And entirely @ethereum-aligned.

I've been cooking something on the simmer for like 9 years lol, time to talk about it.
I started my aerospace company in my early 20s. Noob as hell. My dad just retired from managing a big 4 accounting firm and became my CFO. Together we carved out a niche: power generation for commercial aviation. FAA accredited. Built something real from nothing.
In 2017, I was playing around with mining and started uploading our parts paperwork onto Bitcoin. Not trying to make money, just trying to prove the documents existed. If someone downstream edited my traceability docs, at least the chain would show it wasn't me.
COVID hit in 2020 and aviation ground to a halt. That July, my father and partner died of the virus. I walked out of the company we built and didn't come back for a long time.
I had a crypto balance sheet I was mostly passive about and nothing but time to spend on twitter, monitoring the situation. DeFi summer and NFT season felt like everything my 2017 Bitcoin anchoring tried to solve. I'd also been collecting generative art since before tokens were a thing, so the onchain certificates were actually better than the paper ones I’ve once lost (sorry Tyler). I learned more about provenance from 6529 and partners than from a decade in aviation.
That's not a knock on aviation, NFTs are simply the Michael Jordan of asset tracking.
For 5 years I witnessed, purchased, and admired some of the best NFTs and artworks ever conceived. Each token had perfect custody, while $10 million aircraft engines ship with paper certificates and records that can be easy to forge. I love NFTs and yet it killed me that machines of wonder like aeroplanes had worse provenance than a cryptodickbutt.
Months ago I told @bonafidehan I hate watching an industry I love sit decades in the past. Han called me back in 2 minutes with a plan. That plan became Athena, and the team at Shape went all in.

i haven't posted much about @shape for several reasons. one, i'm a nobody in the web3 art world and still figuring out who's who. i came in late.
second, when i recognize great projects and teams, i like to position myself accordingly and do it in peace. i can confidently say i’ve done exactly that (#2 on the stack!)
one of the things i loved most about shape is that it gave me a break from the usual cryptosphere: a break from degens, rug pulls, grifts, and charts. just quietly discovering and collecting art.
a lot of nft-adjacent projects have thrown in the towel lately, and the sector has been declared dead for the 400th time. naturally that makes you wonder... did i go pretty much all-in on two projects (the other being @opensea) tied this closely to a sector supposedly near its end? no, i don't think i did.
i like being a contrarian, especially in a space with a talent for collectively pivoting to the wrong thing at exactly the right moment.
i've also been building something that i'll be launching on shape. still very early, but i'm excited about it. it’ll be my first collection :).
