After a bit of a drought, Jaden Alba becomes the 7th Sun Devil to be selected in the MLB Draft, going to the Cardinals at No. 414. Alba will be joining former teammate Derek Schaefer after Schaefer was drafted to St. Louis at 204. Alba was used as a starter in 2025, but was mostly used in a long relief role in 2026, pitching to a 6.52 ERA. @SunDevilDaily

Kole Klecker is the latest Sun Devil off the board heading up north to Minnesota with the 287th pick. A solid all-around pitcher that won't blow you away with anything but got the job done. Spent three seasons at TCU before returning home, growing up in Chandler. 4.57 ERA in 69 innings, normally as Arizona State's Sunday starter. @SunDevilDaily

Chase Meyer, who transferred to Arizona State from West Virginia, has been drafted 277th by the Chicago Cubs. @SunDevilDaily

Sean Fitzpatrick is the second player going from Tempe to San Diego, joining Nu'u Contrades with the Padres 245th overall (Round 8). Fitzpatrick was used as Willie's get out of jail card, constantly coming in with runners on and getting the Devils out of it. Has a sidearm slot, had a huge bounce back year as a captain. @SunDevilDaily

Sun Devils have started to fly off the board now, as RHP Alex Overbay has just been selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates 228th overall. Overbay was one of two transfers from UNLV, the other, Toigo, likely getting drafted later today. Threw for a 5.79 ERA, was briefly a starter before becoming a solid long relief option. Rides with his fastball that can touch 98. @SunDevilDaily

RHP Derek Schaefer is the third Sun Devil off the board, landing with the St. Louis Cardinals 204th overall. Schaefer served as the Arizona State closer in 2026, started a couple of games in 2025 but never went over 70 pitches. 5.88 ERA in 2026. @SunDevilDaily

BREAKING: ASU INF Nu’u Contrades has been drafted by the San Diego Padres 186th overall. Contrades will bring an exceptional bat, hitting .366/.434/.762 his senior season for the Sun Devils, homering 21 times in 49 starts. Unfortunately, injuries followed him throughout his ASU career, missing nearly his entire sophomore season, the last month of his junior season, and playing injured most of his senior season. When healthy, he is an animal and is far more talented than his draft position. @SunDevilDaily

Tommy Brown is the latest former Sun Devil baseball player to commit, landing at UC Santa Barbara, per his Instagram. Brown didn’t see playing time in 2026 as a freshman. He was on the 2025 MaxPreps California All-State Second Team his senior year of HS. @SunDevilDaily

Earlier today, GCU announced the signing of former Arizona State outfielder Ky McGary on Instagram. McGary, who hit for a .918 OPS as a sophomore, will likely add to the thorn in the side that the Lopes have been for ASU. @SunDevilDaily

Arizona State transfer Garrett Michel has committed to South Carolina, Per his Instagram. Michel, who transferred from VT, hit for a .831 OPS in 49 games for the Sun Devils. @SunDevilDaily

BREAKING: Landon Hairston just announced on MLB Network that he will be returning to Arizona State for the 2027 season. Hairston, who will be a junior next year, hit a program-record 28 home runs last season, won the Baseball America POTY, and is a finalist for the Golden Spikes. @SunDevilDaily
