Yesterday, while returning home from work, I came across a house but its nameplate made me stop and think for a few minutes. The gate simply read , "SBI General Manager." At first glance, it may look like just another beautiful house. But if you know what it takes to reach this position, you will realize it's much more than bricks and concrete. It's the result of 30-35 years of hard work, countless decisions, multiple transfers, relentless dedication, leadership, and patience. Today, an SBI General Manager typically earns a total monthly compensation of around ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh or even more. But there are no shortcuts to reaching this level. Every promotion is earned through years of consistent performance, trust, and responsibility. Looking at that house, one thought stayed with me People admire the destination, but they rarely see the journey. They notice the big house, but not the decades of sacrifice, discipline, and hard work behind it. That's why it's often said The rewards of hard work come slowly but when they finally arrive, they do not just change your bank balance they change your identity. My wife and I flew CX623 from Hong Kong to Bengaluru, paying a premium for Business Class, only to be told after boarding that a last-minute aircraft swap meant the promised Airbus A350 had been replaced with an older aircraft. The seats were barely better than Economy, the food was subpar, and the overall experience fell far short of what we paid for. If you downgrade the product you’ve sold, where is the accountability? Will affected passengers receive a partial refund or compensation, or are you simply expecting customers to absorb the loss?
