Something important about branding is that it's not just visuals. It's the story you tell, the way you communicate, how you treat others around you. A brand is not just your model if you're a VTuber, it's an everchanging collection of the things closely tied to you. #NyxGothicaTips
Brand Personality is probably one of the most important aspects that should be nurtured in VTubing, beyond just how good or unique your model is. If an audience member can summarize your brand in a sentence, that means you have strong recognition.
How do you nurture a Brand Personality?
You have to define the core personality traits you want people to associate with you. These are things you HAVE to embody in a broad sense, so unless you're doing 100% Kayfabe, they should be personality traits you already have. They can be amplified or diminished depending on circumstance, but they NEED to be present consistently.
For example: Chaotic, Silly, Friendly. If you claim these as your core personality traits but you show up reserved and quiet, it's the complete opposite. You're confusing your audience. That's why it's important to be honest with who you want to be and the things you can realistically do (not one personality type is 'better' than another btw, just don't be an asshole straight-up if you claim to be 'nice and friendly').
Note: This is not to say having off-days is a bad thing, it's more about the OVERALL vibe you want to project. It needs to be CONSISTENT for your audience to start remembering and associating these traits with you.
Your brand's personality is expressed through your tone of voice and communication style. For a VTuber, these are divided in visual (model design, logo, graphic assets), auditory (language, vocal quirks) and written communication.
How you speak is extremely important, the words you use, the way you carry yourself, even your accent is part of it!
Small details in writing, like using cute emojis or kaomoji, using lowercase, or even using a bunch of !!!! exclamation marks !!!! can also be part of your branding, believe it or not.
Keeping all communication styles consistent across different social media helps people recognize you ON and OFF stream, which is extremely important if you want them to remember you. When you're consistent with these details, it can help you build meaningful connections. 💕
If you read this far, tell me what are your core personality traits as a VTuber? :3
