Great thread! Shows the EU's true nature and its design to take complete control of the UK. The EU is not, and has never been, a trading block! Anyone who thinks the UK has/will have sovereignty within the EU is either duplicitous, deluded, or ignorant! WTO, then FTA in future.

A list of what will actually happen if we stay in the EU, and what has already been agreed. Check it out if you wish: Thread

Based on the mood in Makerfield today, I think @AndyBurnhamGM has made a massive miscalculation. Just got a feeling that @reformparty_uk is going to win, by a significant margin

@HannoLustig BoJ owns huge quantity of equities, which are evergreen. BoE owns gilts, which aren't. Could hold to maturity. Or, if it insists on trading, buy low and sell high - not the reverse, as it has been doing

BoE selling gilts for no good reason other than to try and avoid ending up like the BoJ with a huge balance sheet that's a permanent warehouse for government bonds, thus distorting yields, asset returns, incentives for fiscal policymakers etc., oh, and engineering large wealth transfers within and across generations.
Daniela Gabor@DanielaGabor

Bank of England was until recently largest holder of gilts. It's been aggressively selling for no good reason other then Bailey wants to. We have a Bailey premium on gilts nobody talks about

How many ethnic Europeans could find a person to help them hold down an 11-year-old girl in a school toilet while they rape her? Not many. But Afghans can. This tells us a lot about how strongly we should avoid having them in our countries. They are not remotely like us.

“Of the £132 billion Labour borrowed in the year to March, a jaw-dropping £110 billion went on debt interest payments. That’s almost the same as education spending and twice as much we spend on defence” Astonishing stats from @LiamHalligan in @spectator diary

If the Conservatives are against anything, it’s Polanski. He represents what Conservatives go into politics to prevent and they should run a million miles from any politician standing for Polanski’s party. Otherwise you stand for nothing. So I think it was strategically sensible!
Gavin Barwell@GavinBarwell

No amount of impressive rhetorical performances in the Commons will make up for poor strategic judgement. Kemi doesn't seem to realise the survival of many of her MPs at the next election will depend on their ability to attract anti-Reform tactical votes 1/5

How intriguing that you’ve chosen not to post guidance like this before the numerous hate marches we’ve seen in London - all of which have involved antisemitic chants, slogans, symbols and banners. Two tier policing at its finest.
Crown Prosecution Service@CPSUK

Prosecutors have been issued new legal guidance on the use of offensive banners, slogans, chants or symbols to recognise the changing context and increase in increase in hate crime attacks ahead of significant planned protests in London this weekend. orlo.uk/z2Tcn

Important we give these Green councillor resignations as much spotlight as the BBC and Sky give Reform and Tory resignations. Share away.

I see Andy Burnham is running in a by election, something I once did. Here are a couple of red flags: 🚩 There’s something presumptuous in making the by election about Andy and his career. It’s almost inviting voters to reject him. 🚩 Makerfield, grok tells me, was 2-1 for leave. Perhaps unwise to make it about rejoining the EU? Andy & co came of age when folk talked about weighing the Labour vote. They might discover those days have gone

Woman Raped Outside Luxury Flats In Streatham, Police Release Images of Suspect. Police have launched an urgent appeal after a woman was brutally raped in the early hours outside a prestigious new development in Streatham Hill. The horrifying attack took place at around 5.30am on Tuesday, May 12, outside Gaumont Place, part of the London Square Streatham Hill development, just steps away from the busy high street, a high concentration of HMOs, and Streatham Hill station. The assault was captured on CCTV, but was not reported at the time. Police were only alerted the following day after reviewing the footage and have now confirmed it as a serious sexual offence. Despite this clear video evidence, the victim has still not come forward. Detectives are growing increasingly concerned she may be too traumatised to contact them, or that something even worse may have happened to her afterwards. Metropolitan Police officers, led by Detective Constable Charlie Codrington, have released clear CCTV images of the suspect they are desperately trying to trace. The man is described as a black male of medium build in his early 30s, wearing a dark cap, dark hooded jacket and carrying a backpack. DC Codrington: "This was a horrifying incident which took place in broad daylight, close to a busy high street. We know the woman in this footage will be scared, but we urge her to contact the police. We are concerned for her wellbeing and officers are here to provide her with welfare, medical and trained support." The Met is appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images, or who was in the Gaumont Place area around the time of the attack, to come forward immediately. Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference 01/7556597/26, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. #UKNews #CrimeNews #London #Streatham

Makerfield by-election confirmed for 18 June. Reform say they are "bullish": 50 activists out working the seat today, with hundreds more expected tomorrow. The local branch is viewed as one of the party’s stronger ones, with "plenty" of VIs collected already.

Ordinary young people are also fleeing in droves. You may have heard that net migration is down, but you might not know that it’s partly because so many British Citizens are leaving. In the latest data, hundreds of thousands of young Brits left in a single year.

Billionaires don’t come about magically. They tend to own businesses, often abroad, and they have shareholders. The idea that if they die in the UK they’ll have to break apart their business, just doesn’t work. The same is true for UK entrepreneurs.

So why are they leaving? Scrapping the non-dom system is one reason. This was a mistake, which started under the previous Conservative government. It directly attacks those who choose to come here and could go elsewhere. But Labour went further by taxing foreign inheritances.

Contrary to what socialists might tell you, the rich pay more than their fair share. The top 1% pay 30% of Britain’s taxes. They’re paying their fair share that of 29 others. A few hundred people at the top leaving can mean billions lost. I explained how last year. x.com/griffitha/stat…

A staggering 1 in 6 of those who appeared on the list no longer appear, and 1 in 3 don't live on the mainland. Some churn is normal, but this year the most common reason is that they are fleeing Labour’s high-tax, low growth Britain. This is a serious fiscal problem.
