I will say that i do think the #Whitecaps will win the #MLSCup . They lost in final to Messi last year . Miami still good but not quite as good as past . Vancouver better then Nashville are . Few other contenders too but i think Caps are the best team this year . Take the caps + 650 @BetOnline_ag

@Sapsterr_ Blaming Canucks ineptitude for leaving was a red herring for Hughes so he could save face. He wanted to play with his brothers in the US. It’s that simple.

If you can't see the parallels between this situation and the Hughes one, you're being a touch ignorant.
The main difference however is that while the Canucks lost Hughes because of their ineptitude, the concern is the Canucks would screw up being the team on the other side of the coin.
If he really wanted to just maximize his earnings, he would have signed a 3 year deal.

If you were hoping the Bedard deal would stop rumors surrounding him leaving, it unfortunately may do the opposite Bedard's 5 x $15M deal will take him directly to unrestricted free agency at the age of 25, where he can walk from Chicago and give a team 8 years of his prime

RJ has done a great job thus far, but he definitely wasn't the GM *everyone* wanted. That was Evan Gold.
Also, the area where the Canucks should have spent more money is player development staff.
With the Sedin's moving up the chain and Edler + Hermiston being the only hires in that department, they're net neutral in that area.
This is notable because both of them have no prior experience in player development, and Hermiston also has to balance that with his role of being Director of Player Personnel.

Low IQ takes on the Canucks being cheap. They got the GM everyone wanted. They got the coach everyone wanted. They moved out some deadweight players for picks. They drafted reasonably. They aren’t overspending like previous management has done. They have cap and are in a reasonable position 3 months into a rebuild. Yet low IQ takes magnify unsubstantiated rumours. Name one move you think the Canucks should have spent more on since RJ took over? Don’t mention an AHL coach you have never heard of before.
