Last January, I noticed something peculiar in my 2yo’s bedroom that - after a year of obsessive reporting - led me to a profound cosmic revelation about what’s even possible in our universe. A 🧵.

@Super_Ewe Thanks so much for this offer! It's since been revealed to me that I actually also have graduate access - my disappointing university experience was all worth it! Now to catch up on a decade of free journal articles...

Now, does anyone have a Jstor account I could borrow for the week? I realise I work at a huge cultural institution that could provide its readers with free access but also - my cultural institution is currently broken! :(

@ShirleyHughes_ @PuffinBooks I think this is the most perfect Christmas story book, it captures the ordinary magic of Christmas with so much warmth and detail. It is a joy to read it to my own son now :-)

Today's Shirley Hughes #12DaysofChristmas comes from Alfie's Christmas, one of the stories in the @PuffinBooks collection A Shirley Hughes Christmas. Great-Uncle Will and Alfie go out after lunch to test Alfie's new scooter.

Looking at this I get the feeling I used to get with fevers as a child/ sometimes before sleep as an adult. The only way I can describe it is the feeling of a huge lump of clay dangling by a single thread of hair, or the feeling of looking at this finger! Alice in WL syndrome-y!

@EastHerts I can’t put out my paper recycling today because you only supply a lid-less box and it is a rainy day.Wet paper can’t be recycled.I suggest you supply smaller boxes with lids as current system not fit for purpose & will discourage recycling

@EastHerts I’m concerned to read of others struggling with the new paper recycling box and that many may just give up given that the box is not fit for purpose.Recycling needs to be easy to get engagement.I would suggest the council issues smaller boxes with lids?

We collect paper separately from other recyclables in its own compartment in the vehicle. ♻️📄 From our depot, it's collected and taken to recycle into other products. Because you sorted the paper free of glass, it’s worth more and can be recycled into other paper products. 👏

@EastHerts Please can you tell me why you don’t provide paper bins with lids- paper that is wet cannot be recycled so given the general Uk weather, bins without lids are not fit for purpose.

What are your favourite gardens/gardening poems? I’m thinking of putting together a garden-themed poetry workshop and I’d love to read any favourite poems that might get missed! (Here's a very old photo of my 1st London flatshare and of the sunflower I grew there).

@AnnaSavory Frozen chopped veg is my go to- onions, Mediterranean veg, stir fry veg and ingredients in jars (minced ginger, chillis, garlic etc), so you are just throwing things into a pan. Also as it’s frozen lasts forever so less waste & less guilt!

Parents of Twitter. I need yr help please. What is the *very best thing* you hv read that you think wd help parents to shift from seeing a primary child's explosive behaviour as 'bad' (so go to your room!) to seeing it as overwhelmed & distressed & ultimately abt sadness & need.

The bad news for all of you is im either incrementally getting some energy back, or learning to live with pain and no energy, and either way I’m planning to start a podcast in 2023 which will just be me reading ghost stories! Maybe sometimes I’ll bring a guest on to read one.

Found a book token I’d forgotten about! Any recommendations? I find myself at a point where I want poetry or easy addictive reading (still ill, if somethings difficult I get the kindle version, since I’m already addicted to staring into my phone, but this will be an object-book)
