@chiguirii @punggles @Paul_provalone @narrenhut It's like the company that makes VHS tapes trying to tell the world VHS is forever! :) Nahh seriously...I know this is going to be rough for a lot of people. We just have to find a way to adapt to it.

Are these people going to keep saying this until the end of time because it's devolving into self-parody at this point

@chiguirii @punggles @Paul_provalone @narrenhut Yeah it will be a lot of change. Actors will be hired to just be scanned, instead of acting. Budgets will not be 300 million, but 15 million. Etc. Good or bad it's coming. So I don't understand the people trying to hard cope it to the corn field. I do not think anyone can stop it

These hollywood giants will be the first to implement the tech in a major way, actually. When the tech gets good enough and you mix that with the kind of talent and expertise those production crews have, there won't be anymore talk about "ai slop". The slop people are used to is mostly created by some random Joe in his room clicking a few times and typing a few prompts, and maybe some minor editing. It's slop because the project isn't receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in budget with actual experts creating it over the span of months or years. When people actually get the go ahead to put that much effort into AI content, it's over. And it will ironically be someone like Disney, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros etc. or else they will be left behind and lose everything.

@Paul_provalone @realitybndr @narrenhut The viral AI-generated video of Will Smith eating spaghetti was released in March 2023. Created by a Reddit user with the ModelScope text-to-video tool, it became a famous, bizarre, and early benchmark for AI video generation capabilities.

I’m almost certain this video is more than 3 years old, but anyway, a more fair comparison would be the teaser videos for the original release of OpenAI SORA, which is nearly 2 years ago to the day (Feb 16, 2024) Given the current problems we still see with morphing and stuff 2 years later, it’s hard to say the technology hasn’t stagnated in some ways.

@Paul_provalone @narrenhut Why is everyone pointing to a backwards arrow as the doom of ai? I mean...seriously someone could fix this in a day. Then what?

@MandelaFace @narrenhut You could say that about any movie using effects. The flaws won't always be there. Remember STAR WARS? Matte lines all over the place. Jitter and mismatched elements. Over time that stopped being a problem.

@narrenhut keep saying what? that this shit keeps pumping out stuff that looks superficially good at the barest glance but upon any examination has ridiculous flaws? yes, we're going to keep saying that

@Karl78531086 @narrenhut That's because everyone is limited to how much time they can create. Also I think you still need some good direction to get something to work. Give it time.

@narrenhut Much more reasonable issue I’ve seen is that it doesn’t seem like there is compelling storytelling going on with it. Just action scenes, I’d be hard pressed to see a world where entirely AI written and visualized stories reach a mainstream

@narrenhut Back in the day they all got scared by TRON and refused to let it win any awards for the effects because they all saw it as cheating. Now every movie uses computer fx. Things change and we must adapt.

@NutsForThee @arcade_1up @basicfuntoys Yeah I almost got a "REAL" Atari one awhile back, but a tech told me the monitors break like every week. So I backed off. Someone should really make TRUE repros of these beasts

Does anyone know if @arcade_1up or @basicfuntoys will be putting out the original #starwars arcade machine again? I know about the return of the jedi version..but I'd rather have the original..Plus the ROTJ BasicFun one is supposed to have a poop monitor
