KINDA. Staying digital in a walled garden like Playstation (and possibly/probably) Xbox? You are 100% correct. Which is why-IMO- with fewer and fewer 1st party Playstation games hitting anyway, best to save up for a PC or see if a streaming solution works for you. If Sony was still releasing a consistent batch of 'GOTTA PLAY!!' exclusives every year, I'd say 'sucks we gotta deal with this'. But they are not- but they are making moves like they are. Which- I feel- is very arrogant and/or shows a real misunderstanding of where the console market is going.

Who gives a fuck? Nobody plays on PC anymore—nobody cares about it. Sure, I acknowledge that the PC is a powerful machine; it boasts superior specs, higher quality, faster speeds, and it’s got mods, which is sweet. But it’s 2026, and we are talking about consoles. It has been that way since the very beginning of the industry. PC has never been the driving force behind the gaming landscape, and I don't give a fuck whether users "own" their digital files or not—so what? It’s not the same as having a physical copy, or else we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now. ​I’m speaking as someone who was born in the late 70s and grew up in the 80s—my generation is the one that saved the industry from the gaming crash. We established gaming on the foundation of physical media. Even back then, we knew the PC was technically superior, but that isn't the point. We aren't talking about specs; we’re talking about "plug and play." I’m not interested in the noise of building a custom PC or modding it just to get a game to run better. Fuck that.

@davidscottjaffe You're right, Sony just turned themselves into a Nintendo. I'll play your exclusives. But investing into a next gen capable PC.

It's be a shame if everyone canceled their PS Plus, stopped buying AAA digital and just subscribed to @GameFly for the next 1 and a half yrs. 💅

@GenePark Trojan horse. They don't care about the pennies they're saving ftom manufacturing. It's to stop having to put their games on sale, it's to stop used game sales and rentals. It's to raise game prices and theres nothing you can do about it.

cutting physical media cuts costs only for the company. they get to save on production, design, shipping and still charge the same thing with nothing being passed on to the consumer
