Why does a word make you feel that way? Does it change anything about who you are as a person? Does it make you less valuable? No it doesn't. I understand people like to bring up the history behind it, but I think people use that as an excuse. If it was so triggering, black people wouldn't be using an alternate version of the same word to refer to themselves or their friends.
